Mekayla was born in the spring of the year 1131, part of Los Gitanos de Romani, a Spanish-based Gypsy tribe. When she was 20 years old, her entire tribe was attacked by crusaders for the Catholic church. They tied her to a stake and burned her family while she watched, then beat and raped her to the point of death. As the final act of torture, they seared her back with a hot iron cross, to "purify a sinful Gypsy whore." She died moments later, and was reborn as an Immortal.

A loner by trade, Mekayla tends to keep to herself a lot of the time, but is helpful and loyal to those she calls her friends. It takes a lot to anger her, but she has been known for an extremely violent temper. Mekayla is also a colossal smart-ass. What most people solve in anger, she solves in never-ending sarcasm, which has almost gotten her killed more than once. She's very stubborn, but willing to listen as well as be heard.

Mekayla is a dark beauty and stands tall at at 5'10. She has a slender build, long dark hair, and light brown eyes that turn almost amber in color when she's angry. She prefers comfort to style and is usually found wearing skirts and jeans. However, she likes to wear fashionable dresses when the occassion calls for it. Though she appears meek and defenseless to those who first meet her, Mekayla is a fighter, well-practiced with a sword and various other weapons. A powerful witch, she uses her magick only when necessary, reads palms, and has prophetic dreams.

Over the years, Mekayla has made countless foes, but her worst enemy is Soraya of the Vom Blut clan. Soraya is the reason she chose her path as a Watcher.
