Space - the final frontier.
These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise.
Its fiveyear mission: To explore strange new worlds.
To seek out new life and new civilizations.
To boldly go where no man has gone before.

The Original Series was first launched in ‘64 as "The Cage", but the name was shortly afterwards changed to Star Trek, and the thoughtful elderly commander was replaced by the impulsive and emotional James T. Kirk, portrayed by William Shatner and a true man of the action. The series takes place aboard the Enterprise, exploration class starship of the United Federation of Planets, whose crew is legendary: Spock, Bones, Scotty, Uhura, Sulu, Chapel and Chekov.
TOS was a low budget creation, and it really shows; story and special effects are rather poor, and sometimes the acting, too. There is however a magic over TOS that isn’t found in any other of the Star Trek series, which in one way makes it the best of them all. But what really stands out of the crowd in TOS are the characters. Above all, of course, there is the vulcan Mr Spock, but even Chekov has a certain feeling over him, that makes of the Original Series what it is: one of the absolutely most popular (and best) television series in the world! 1
