Force in the Balance
A Star Wars (tm) Campaign

Part Four

John returned to the ship to get some tools and wait for nightfall, for better cover (as Elana had instructed him). Galen returned to the bar, and found he had to help Ged take Jarad back to the ship. Once back at the ship Jarad was lain on his bed, where he passed out, never to be heard from for a good long while.
Elana returned after having stopped outside the place where the bank had recorded her as having lived at, she didn’t however manage to enter the flat because it required a keycard. Ged wanted to practice on the simulators, after Galen had told them that he needed to take the ship on Tuesday to Carida, and that any of them was welcome to join him. John and Jarad were due to be working, but Ged wanted to accompany him, since Galen could use at least one co-pilot. However the simulation that John had programmed previously wasn’t working too well, so he asked John to fix it, but even then Ged wasn’t happy: it was too easy, so he helped John design a more taxing one, Ged settled in for a quick go. Galen announced that he was going out, back in to the city, only 2 hours after he had returned, since he hadn’t found out the information he had wanted for previously. Ged decided that he would go with him, and Galen was only too happy to take him. Galen then quickly devised a scheme to ‘help’ Ged become more of a man.
Meanwhile Elana and John set out to the interrail station, to retrieve the big blaster Elana had shown John. They got to the station, about half an hour before the station was due to close for the night, with no more trains due in, and noone around to get on the trains if there were any. They checked out the situation and spotted a guard doing the rounds, Elana decided she would distract the Guard whilst John went to retrieve the gun.
Searching for the right bar, after trying a few others, and loosening up Ged, Galen steered Ged into the Coruscant City’s goudy entertainment sector. Remembering that he owed Ged the money for the ship, Galen palmed considerable credits into Geds hands moments before steering him in a house of less than usual repute, the woman on the door was quick to see the game Galen was playing and assured Galen when he asked for Ged to get the ‘works’ that he would be well looked after, Galen then proceeded to get the job he wanted to do, done. He was just moving to where one bar’s information was leading him to another bar, when he was intercepted by a man, asking if he was Galen C’arn, admitting cautiously, Galen listened to the man explain that it was his boss, Doig Natas, the smuggling chief who had hired Galen, who needed to speak with Galen immediately, so urgent was the request that the man paid for his and Galens monorail fare across the city. When Galen arrived, the usual precautions were taken, his blaster was taken, but his knife hidden in his boot was missed. Doig Natas explained that the situation had changed and that his client required the equipment a lot earlier, and as such it was necessary for Galen to make the trip, on the Sunday. Galen went back to tell everyone. Elana managed to distract the guard by getting him to search for something she had lost. John meanwhile found himself looking at the very large gun he had seen previously: a Sorosub Light Repeater, a formidable weapon, in the right hands.
He also saw a bag, which he investigated to find clothes, and of all things a couple of wigs. There appeared to be 2 sets of clothes, both very different in styles. Ignoring that John got to work on the Blaster, and after a bit of sweating, managed to safely dismantle the weapon. Once he had the bits, he realised that he couldn’t carry everything, and thinking quickly emptied the bag in the locker and put the gun in there. He then left quickly, believing to have stayed longer than was reasonable.
Early on the Sunday, Galen took the ship to load up, with everyone on board, and then proceeded to take the ship into hyperspace towards Carida.

Using the 2 hours on the ship, in hyperspace the party decided a little extra knowledge sharing was appropriate. Once they reached Carida, everything became very business like, they entered the landing queue, landed, negotiated a basic rate, tidied up the ship, checked that the ship was still spaceworthy, called the people to find out about getting the cargo off, and getting the passengers on. The Cargo was transported and the five passengers arrived: ????? Galen and Jarad, who went to meet them, both noticed ????? was quite broad and would do well in a fight, whereas the other three men were not as well suited, 2 of them Sol and ????? were definitely not even fit to run away from trouble. Gennie was quiet and polite, but also appeared eager. Once in hyperspace the party go to know the other five, or at least tried to, two of them were advisors, ???? refused to tell them what he did, and the other two were on holiday, and returning home. Galen and John were trying to repair the secondary hyperdrive, but they could not fit it whilst in hyperspace. John retreated to his quarter, whilst the rest proceeded to have a couple of games of Sabaac, and lost most of their money.
About 50 minutes hyperspace away from hyperspace, there was a dreadful alert in the ship, followed immediately by a brief lurch before the inertia field compensated.
Galen and Ged running to the cockpit found the ship had returned to realspace, because of a trail of rocks, being pulled by a couple of tugs, also the were surrounded left and right by 5 ships. A total of 7 mixed ships, could only mean pirates. Two ships were approaching there almost stopped ship, on each flank. A light freighter and a Z-95, on each side. The final ship was a Corellian corvette. Galen first tried hailing the approaching ships, who didn’t respond until just withing firing range with "DIE" Galen asked Jarad and Elana to go up to the guns, whilst John took it as his queue to refit the secondary hyperdrive whilst the others were fighting. Once the ship was fighting Galen got Ged plotting an escape route on the Navicom. They managed to get rid of three of the ships, and injure another heavily, with only one shot penetrating their shields. They blasted off into hyperspace as soon as possible to avoid the corvettes laser fire.
