The municipality of the Pobla de Segur is located to the north of the province of Lleida (it lines up of the Pallars Jussà) to an altitude of 524 meters at level of the sea. It limits with (borders on) the municipalities of Conca de Dalt, Salàs de Pallars, Senterada and Baix Pallars. Km2 has a surface of 33.59 and its population in 1995 was of 3076 inhabitants.
Its municipal term [limits] is bathed by the rivers Noguera Pallaresa and Flamisell that come together, in this locality, in the marsh of Sant Antoni. It is an important center of the network of highways and communications of the Pyrenean leridano. By their term the highway C-147 de Balaguer to Esterri d'Àneu and the highway N-260 (Axis Pirenaico) in their section between Sort and Pont de Suert run. Also, it is the final station of the line of railroad Lleida-la Pobla de Segur.
BRIEF HISTORICAL REVIEW OF THE BODY
The Body of Voluntary Firemen of the Pobla de Segur was founded like so in 1976. Previously to his constitution a group of people existed, more or less defined but not organized, who went to all fires. The City council acquired, year 1975, a vehicle where a Rosenbauer moto-pump adapted which already it had. From here, it is grouped, through a call, a group of citizens interested in comprising of the fire-fighting service. To the public call fifty people went of who finally a total of 35 founded the Body of Voluntary Firemen of the Pobla de Segur. Already from this moment, the scope of performance of the Body is not limited the municipal term of the Pobla exclusively but that is born with a intermunicipal vocation, including the municipalities of its area of influence (Salàs de Pallars, Conca de Dalt, Senterada, Sarroca de Bellera, the Tower of Capdella i Baix Pallars).
At organizational level, the necessity that was understood the body of firemen was an organized and hierarchized organization. For this reason one made a regulation that it included from the hierarchic structure, right and duties of all the firemen and even an own disciplinary regime.
When in 1980 the Generalitat de Catalunya organizes the service of firemen creating the General Direcció of Prevenció i Extinció d'Incendis i of Salvaments de Catalunya , the park of the Pobla de Segur was one of first in integrating itself in the same one. Thus, in 1981 July an agreement between the City council of the Pobla and the General Direcció of Prevenció i Extinció is signed d'Incendis i of Salvaments de Catalunya. It is necessary to emphasize that the Pobla was the first locality of the province of Lleida in signing this agreement. That same year the first fireman gets up itself civil employee happening to be a park with dowry of [inherited] voluntary firemen and firemen civil employees. In 1984 the dependencies of a new park are inaugurated in which we continued at the present time.
MANPOWER LEVEL, VEHICLES AND MATERIAL PERSONNEL

In summer it is had a reinforcement of forest aids contracted specially to take care of the forest fire campaign.

It is necessary to emphasize that the park of firemen of the Pobla, to part of the own performances of a Body of Firemen takes care to offer cover to a good number of situations within the frame of what citizen protection is considered. Thus, part of the fire extinction, opening of floors and other activities traditionally related to the service of firemen are taken care of the service of ambulance, traffic accidents, mountain rescues...
During year 1999 a total of 754 exits was made. Of the same ones, they emphasize, by its important volume, the technical attendances (when being made transfers of ambulance) and the mountain rescues.

GROUP OF RESCUE IN MOUNTAIN (GRAE)
In order to take care of the mountain accidents it is had an equipment specialized in mountain rescue that comes working from end of the Seventies. The group is formed by 17 firemen who, along with the teams of the Firemen of the Val would d'Aran and the Seu d'Urgell, takes care of the mountain rescue in the province of Lleida.
