How To

Remember that I am not a professional and this is just my advice on how to do these installs.  I am not responsible for any damage that you may cause to your car.  The first thing to do is to make sure the car is cooled off before trying any install.  Also take any safety precautions to make sure that you are not injured while doing this.

Iceman intake:

This is a very basic install on any car.  You get everything you need to do this from Iceman.  You get the intake tubing, ring clamps, rubber hosing, support bracket, filter, and some hard to read instructions.  The first thing you have to do is to decide whether you will be doing the street or competition style.  If you decide to do the street style it is very easy and should not take more than 30 minutes.  First disconnect the negative on the battery.  Next remove the hoses and computer chip connections from the factory intake.  You then take off all clamps and anything else holding the intake in place.  Once you remove this you are ready to set up the Iceman intake so that you can put it on.  Attach the brace onto the intake (the straighter piece of the two that were sent to you), the filter, and all the ring clamps you will need to use.  When doing the street style you will not use all of the parts that are sent to you.  Next you put the intake onto the throttle body.  Now line up the brace and bolt it to the car where your directions tell you.  This will be different on most cars, so I can not tell you where exactly where this is.  Once the brace is tight you can tighten the ring clamp that holds the intake to the throttle body.  Once tight you then hook all hoses and censors back up.  Next start the car and see if any engine lights come on and if they do you will need to reset the ECU.  It is a good idea to reset the ECU anyways to get better gal mileage.  If you decided to do the competition style then you follow all of the same steps before but do not put the filter on the straight piece, like you do for the street style.  You have to remove the front bumper so that you can remove the resonator box.  Once you remove the resonator box you feed the other intake piece up through the hole so you can connect it to the one that is connected to the throttle body.  Use the rubber connecting piece and two ring clamps to connect the two intake pieces together.  Once they are tight you can put the filter on the end of the intake and tighten it with a ring clamp.  Now you just have to put the bumper back together and you are done.

HKS Superdragger:

The HKS Superdragger is a direct bolt-on to the car.  All you have to do is to remove the factory exhaust, making sure it is not hot.  Then you use the same support spots to hook the HKS exhaust up to the car.  Make sure that every point where it is supported that it is on right and will not come loose.  After this is done you are ready to go.

Plugwires:

To install plug wires make sure the engine is not hot.  When the engine is cool you remove one plug wire at a time.  Remove the plug wire and match it up with the new ones to find the one that is the exact same size.  Install this new plug wire and make sure that it is tightly fastened to the distributor cap and plug.  Keep doing this until you run out of plug wires.  When you run out go back and check all wires again to make sure they are on tight.  Now start the car and make sure that it does not misfire and you are done.

Resetting the ECU:

You want to reset the ECU after upgrading with and after-market performance part.  This will give you better gas mileage.  The first thing to do is to turn on the car and warm it up, keeping it at normal idle level.  Next turn the car off  and pull the ECU fuse out, which is located in the fuse box under the hood.  Keep the fuse out for at least 5-10 minutes.  Put the fuse back in and close the hood.  Now you can start up the car, DO NOT STEP ON THE GAS WHEN STARTING IT UP OR WHILE IT IS RUNNING.  Let the car idle for about 5 minutes.  Shut the car off and then start it up again.  Now your car is reprogrammed.  By doing this your car balances the air/gas ratio.  This will take you about 20 minutes to do.
