Description: This is a very large project, encompasses all the basic processes from Inventory to Mailroom of Newspaper publishing. PRS is a well-designed multi-user, multi-tier application that has separate libraries for the business rules and data processing. The system has integrated Circulation, Inventory, Layout, Press, Mailroom and Security modules. My contribution in PRS is:
  • Managed the development environment using Visual Source Safe 6.0.
  • Modified and managed physical relational model for database using Power Designer Data Architect 6.0.
  • Used the COM, ADO, OLEDB technologies and the third party controls APEX True DBGrid Pro 6.0,Crescent enhanced controls,Navigation control
  • Partially designed user interface.
  • Managed database related issues at MS SQL Server 7.0 including modification in database and stored procedures.
  • Also designed and developed forms and reports.
  • Implemented security enforcement.

Description: It was a web application consists of three modules i.e. PRS, QAM and ADMIN. PRS was to control the all press time management in the newspaper publication environment. It also tracks the record of the wastage, down time, and transportation of newspaper for 18 publication sites. QAM was to record and monitor the Newsprint Quality tracking of 18 sites presses. As a senior team member, my responsibilities were to build the COM’s components, database designing issues. DTS was to transform data from flat table to the relational database of NY Times. I designed and developed 31 required reports concerning to the wastage, time tracking of publication and the quality concerns.

Description: The INFOMART was developed and programmed to keep in view the requirements and specification of the newspaper ‘THE TIMES’. The scope was limited to reports regarding to sales and advertising data. INFOMART acts as the main data warehouse and all the archived data is stored in it. It uses the data from Vision System. It has the ability to transform data from other sources like PRS, HR, SFA, and MAS90System etc. for future reporting needed by ‘THE TIMES’.
