satisfy the aspirants. An alternate path (popularly known as Dip. N.B.) is being
offered by the National Board of Examination, which is an autonomous body under
the Central Ministry of health and family welfare. The Board has been
established primarily to conduct postgraduate and higher examinations in various
disciplines of medical sciences of high and uniform standard at the national
level. Successful candidates are awarded "Diplomate of National Board"
which is recognised as equivalent to post-graduate (MD/MS in broad specialties)
and post doctoral (DM/MCh in higher specialties) degree qualifications of Indian
universities and included in the First Schedule of the Indian Medical Council
Act, 1956.
The examination of the Board is held in two parts - Primary and Final - usually
during the first week of August.

the three direct 5-year courses. Candidates who have completed/or will be
completing their internship by 31st July are eligible to take the primary
examination during the year. The examination will be of MBBS standard.
Candidates possessing P.G. qualification in any specialty (degree or diploma)
will be exempted from the primary examination.

Chartered Financial Analyst
It is true that the CFA Programme conducted by the Institute of chartered
financial Analysts of India does not offer a qualification with statutory
powers. However, those who have acquired this qualification are in great demand
in the finance profession.
The CFA programme addresses the broader financial and managerial issues in the
areas of corporate finance, International finance, Investment Management and
financial services. Since this programme does not lay emphasis on areas such as
book-keeping, auditing and taxation, there is little overlap with the CS/CA/ICWA
programmes.
The CFA qualification can be acquired either through a two year full-time format
or through a three-year distance learning format.
Applicants for the CFA programme should be graduates (from any
discipline-English medium) with 50% marks. Selection is based mainly on past
academic records, admission test score and performance in interview/group
discussion.
