IN THE FUTURE TOWN
OF Shirley, Long Island, NY
I recently had
the pleasure of meeting Jimmy Cutro, who's family has owned the
Island View Manor since after WWII. Jimmy was very kind and showed
me around the manor house from the attic to the wine cellar. Some
people recall that before the Cutro's had the place it was the
private estate of Edward & Aline Tolfree who lived there from
around 1922 - 1945. Going back even further it was built and used
by Fred Quimby of the Tangiers Manor Development Corp. around
1910. For

Jimmy's brother
Rocky was a musician, that's him on the trumpet backing up his
old friend from Astoria, Tony Bennett. Tony's appearances at the
club co incided with when he was first hitting it real big and
the whole town was buzzing whenever he appeared. My parents saw
him there several times. Click on the old Wurlitzer and you will
get an earfull of what it sounded like in what is now the Cutro's
