THE SERIES: Armstrong Circle Theater June 6, 1950 - June 25, 1957 (NBC); October 2, 1957 - August 28, 1963 (CBS) An anthology series which specialized in the dramatization of actual events. Began on NBC in 1950 as a half-hour weekly series with John Cameron Swayze as host. In 1955 an hour-long format was adopted and the show was aired biweekly, alternating with Playwrights '56 from 1955 to 1956 and The Kaiser Aluminum Hour from 1956 to 1957. The show then switched from NBC to CBS where it alternated with The U.S. Steel Hour and was hosted first by Douglas Edwards, then Ron Cochran and finally Henry Hamilton.
