Synopsis: General Billy Mitchell tries desperately to get the Army to see the importance of the Air Corps. As hundreds of his fellow officers die in antiquated and unfit machines and after repeated attempts to get recoginition through the proper channels, Mitchell publicly criticizes his superiors for failing to give the needed attention to the Air Corps. This results in a court-martial in which Mitchell tries valiently to prove he was justified in his actions. Well-done biopic of real-life hero Billy Mitchell who in 1925 predicted the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Cooper is good in the title role with nice performances by Steiger and Bellamy. Montgomery, in her first film role, is good although she only has one really significant and lengthy scene. |
