Kerri gasped and stumbled back from the girl. "No." She mumbled to herself in disbelief. The girl stood there grinning nastily at her.
"Tiffany!" A vioce down the hallway yelled. "What are you doing here?"
Kerri turned to see Nick. He walked over to her and she moved away, glaring at him. He wasn't truthful with me, she thought.
"Y…you have a girlfriend?" Kerri managed to stammer. His eyes widened with shock.
"No!" He said, taking Kerri's hand before she could pull away. "Tiffany is my EX-girlfriend, we broke up for obvious reasons." He said spitefully, looking at Tiffany. Then he turned to face her.
"Tiffany, I think you need to leave." He said pointing down the hallway.
Tiffany looked down at the floor and shrugged her shoulders. "Nicky, I just thought that we could try to work it out." Then she looked up into his eyes, his features hardened. "We had something special, you and I. Don't throw that away, give US another chance." She pleaded.
"Now." He said, filling with anger. Tiffany stood there a moment longer, looking first at Nick, then at Kerri. She turned and hurried away, finally leaving.
"I…" Kerri started. She felt horrible that she had believed Tiffany. After all Nick has done for me, she thought. "I'm sorry Nick." She said, hanging her head.
"Kerri, you didn't do anything wrong. I don't care about Tiffany, and neither should you." He said holding her arms and peering into her eyes, as if trying to read her thoughts. She nodded her head.
Christina stepped out of the room. She had seen everything, but pretended he hadn't.
"Come on Kerri. I think you need to get to bed." She pulled Kerri away from Nick gently and led her back to the room.
Nick watched Kerri diappear behind the door. Why did Tiffany have to decide to come back now, he thought. He slowly started back to his own room. Kerri needs someone to trust, after what happened with Mark it will be hard for her. I have to be careful that nothing like that will ever happen again, he promised himself.
The next morning Jess woke Kerri up. "Come on sleepy head!" Jess shook her a little. "One hour practice followed by a day of fun in the big apple!" She danced happily across the room. Kerri laughed and pulled herself out of bed.
"Ok, ok, I'm movin'." She said, dressing quickly.
"Let's go, were gonna be late." Jess said pulling Christina and Kerri out the door. "The studio is just down the street, we can walk."
"Or…" Christina smiled, "we can run!" She took off through the hotel and outside. Jess and Kerri ran after her. A couple minutes later the three girls entered the studio, gasping to catch their breaths.
"Whoah, you look like you were chased her by wild dogs." Mike said, laughing at them.
"I was!" Christina protested, then pointed at the two other girls. "Them!" Mike shook his head, laughing harder.
"Ok people, let's start. I know you are all eager to go hang out in New York, but work comes first. I'm making a few small changes in the routine, then you're free to go." Fatima informed them. They gathered in the center of the studio. The practice went by quickly and they all returned to their hotel. Kerri dressed in a pair of large khakis and a blue halter top. Jess changed into jeans and a baby tee. Kerri and Jess were chatting about the practice when Christina emarged from the bathroom. She had on a nice, flowered, pink sundress and strappy sandles that completed the outfit.
"Somebody is dressed up, I guess your not going shopping with us." Kerri assumed, and she was right.
"I'm going to lunch with Mike." She announced proudly. Jess rolled her eyes at Christina.
"Not like that is a big surprise. Well, we're headin' out. Have fun!" Jess said as she and Kerri walked out the door and waved goodbye. They took a taxi to TimesSquare, figuring it was the best place to shop. Guys wistled and shouted as the two girls walked down the street. They laughed, imatating the guys behavor. They had been shopping for a few hours before they came up to a large group of people outside of a building.
"Hey, it's TRL! Let's see if we can go up and say hi to Carson." Kerri suggested. Jess nodded in agreement. They made their way to a guard outside the door.
"Hi, I'm Kerri and this is Jess." Kerri started, "We are two dancers from the Backstreet Boys tour." She and Jess pulled out their passes for proof. "We wanted to see if it was alright to go say hi to Carson."
"Sure, I don't see why not." The guard said, then opened the door to let them in. They ran up the stairs to where they were doing TRL. They were on a commercial break, so they let Kerri and Jess in.
"Carson, hi!" Kerri said, walking over to give him a hug. She explained who they were and why the guard had let them in. Carson asked if they would mind being on the show, to answer some questions about the tour. They girls agreed immediately. The camra man counted down time until they were ack, live.
"Over the break, I was just standing here when these two ladies to my left came out. This is Kerri and this is Jess, they are two of the dancers on the Backstreet Boys tour. This just goes to show you how many unexpected things happen on a live show. So girls, what is the show like." Carson said as the camras came on.
"It's great, it's really worth going to see. Lots of phyro, confetti, and cool surprises. Definatly worth your money." Jess answered.
"That's good, you don't get ripped off, cool. What's it like being a backup dancer?" He asked, looking at Kerri.
"Awesome, crazy, and wonderful, that's the only way to describe it. The Boys have the craziest fans I have ever seen." Kerri said.
"Alright, you heard it from them. You need to go check out this tour if you can. Thanks for being on ladies." Carson said, shaking their hands.
"No prob." Kerri said, her and Jess waving goodbye as TRL went to a video. "Nice meeting you Car, but we gotta go." They said goodbye to Carson before heading back to the hotel. All the other dancers were in the lobby waiting for the buses to arrive.
Kerri looked at Jess, "Ooops, forgot my dance shoes. I'll be right back." She ran to the room as fast as she could. When she got close to the room she slowed down. What is on the door, she wondered. She moved closer and finally saw what it was. The word DIE was scrawled across the door in blood. Kerri screamed as she saw it.
