Chapter 3: Starting Over Again
RING....RING....RING....TIME TO GET UP! TIME TO GET UP.....RING RING RING! Sara reached over to her alarm clock to shut it off.
"Damn thing is so loud." she thought to herself and she lay there, not wanting to get out of her nice warm bed. It was 7:00 AM and she had to be at school at 8:00. She was staying at the same school but she hadn't been there for a week. Her best friends Allison and Sandra knew what were going on, but no one esle did. Sara got up and brushed her teeth and got right in the shower.
"Hmmm, what should I wear today?" Sara went through her suitcase of clothes. She found her favorite jeans. They were dark blue with a silver sheen over them, alittle tight, but her favorite. "I guess I should wear that new halter top I bought." she said aloud. It was a fuzzy hot pink halter top that showed about a inch of her stomach. She grabbed her black and white sketchers and her backpack and went downstairs.
"Good morning Sara! How did you sleep?" Asked Mrs. Carter as she poured Sara a glass of orange juice.
" I slept very well thanks, my bed is so comfy!"
"I'm glad, what can I get for you, we have cereal in the cupboard or I can make you eggs or pancakes."
"I'll just have a bowl of cereal." Sara said as she went over to the cupboard and took the box of Cheerios.
" We have to leave in about a half hour Dear so take your time."
"Ok thanks!" Sara said as she poured herself a big bowl of cereal and poured herself some milk."
Just as she was about to sit down BJ and Leslie came bounding down the stairs like a heard of elephants.
" Ha! I got there first!" said Leslie with a grin on her face.
" Yeah whatever, Mom tell Leslie to quit stealing my Britney Spears CD. She did it again!"
"Girls! Is this how we act first thing in the morning?" Mrs.Carter gently scolded Leslie and BJ.
"No, sorry. " they said. "
Sara smiled and said "What's up?"
Leslie said "Hey cute top."
"Thanks!" Sara said with a smile that couldn't help but creep up. BJ was eyeing it, but said nothing. "BJ you will have to meet my friend Allison, she looks alot like you."
"cool."
" Ok girls lets get a move on were your be late!" said Mrs. Carter yelling for Mary (the house keeper) "Mary lets go!" Mary came downstairs and the girls rushed out the door.
"So tell me EVERYTHING! What was the house like, what does your room look like, did you meet Nick yet, did you see his room? What was Jane like?" Sara's friend Allison was asking questions a mile a minute.
"My room is all Tommy, the house is huge and the people are nice, Nick doesn't come home till a few weeks.
"Can I come over?" Sandra asked with her mouth full of tuna sandwich. It was lunch time and they were begging Sara to tell all!
"Maybe both of you guys can come over today after school."
" YAY!" Allison and Sandra said as they slapped each other high fives. Sara rolled her eyes.
"Sara, how are you dealing with all of this?" Sandra asked suddenly, with her eyes full of concern.
"I'm doing ok, Im really just out of it right now, I can't believe that I'm not living at home, and Im living at the Carters, everything just feels like a dream to me. but I know that I am safe now, and God will take care of me."
" Sara, we are here you, you know that don't you?" said Sandra, still studying Sara.
"Yes, I do, you guys are great." Sandra and Allison gave Sara a quick hug just as the bell rang.
" Well you guys, I will meet you infront after school don't be late!"
" OK!" they said in unison as they walked off to class.
" Can my two friends come over for a few hours?"
"Sure as long as you guys get your homework done."
"Ok Great!"
The girls and Jane arrived at there house shortly after. When Mrs. Carter opened the door to there house, both of Sara's friends stood with the mouths gaping open in awe.
"I have one question, can I move in? Please? I won't cause any trouble at all." Sandra said with her jaw still dropped.
"Gimme a break!" Sara said with sarcastic smile. "Now come on lets get something to eat I'm starving!"
"Just don't make a mess girls, clean up after yourselves!" Mrs. Carter called as she made her way up the stairs.
"OK!" the three girls called back in unision.
"So....what is it like? have you met Nick? How are his sisters? Are then Nice? Allison said in with a mouth full of grapes.
"I love it here, everyone is great, his sisters are cool, Nick won't be home for a while and yes yes yes."
"Will you introduce me to Nick? Please? I'LL DO ANYTHING!" Allison cried with a pleading look.
"Yes, if you promise to act like a normal human being when I do"
"Its a deal!" Allison said hugging Sara tight. Fortunately for all three of them, there was alot more in store for her than she expected....
