April fumbled through her closet, searching for her light green sweater. Finally seeing it way in the back, she grabbed it and closed the door then went over to her bed and sat down. She quickly pulled on her jeans and threw the sweater over her head. Mandy came through the door and picked up her bookbag.
"In a hurry?" Mandy joked.
"Yes, how do I look?" she asked nervously.
"Like you're about to be sick," Mandy said sarcastically. "Don' be so nervous, its just dinner."
"But what if I say something stupid," she whined, quickly putting on some powder and lip-gloss.
"Just make small talk. You're the world's biggest flirt, so act like it!" Mandy told her, sitting down on her bed.
A sudden knock on the door made both of them jump. Mandy shoved April forward towards the door. Slowly walking to the door, April turned the knob and pulled it open.
Brian was right on time, wearing khakis and a blue Polo shirt.
"Hi," he said cheerfully, flashing her a smile. He pulled a handful of daises and baby's-breath from behind his back and gave them to her.
"I thought you might like these," he said quietly.
"They're beautiful, thank you," April said happily.
Turning back to Mandy, April winked and walked out the door. Brian took her hand on his and walked her down the hall to the elevators. People standing in the hall, stared and pointed as the two of them walked hand in hand.
"Maybe we should've taken the back stairs," Brian whispered with a laugh.
April laughed and continued walking.
Brian took her, in a black limo, to this cute little Italian restaurant, not too far from where the MCI Center was. He had a quiet table arranged in the back of the restaurant where they wouldn't be mobbed by fans. April and Brian each ordered a plate of spaghetti.
They talked about the dance that the girls had put together the previous day and they talked of what it was like to be on tour most of the year for the five little cuties. Brian asked her many questions about her family, as did April. April learned that for the Backstreet Boys, touring wasn't always fun. They missed their families mostly, but they also missed their friends too.
After paying for the check, Brian took April back into the limo and onto the concert.

The other four boys were already in their first costume when Brian and April arrived. April went to talk with her friends as they did the final rehearsal. Of course Kerri had to sneak a few peeks at Nick as he and the others finished rehearsing The Perfect Fan.
"So, how did it go?" Shelby asked excitedly.
"Oh my God! He was so sweet! We mostly talked and all, but he was really nice. I just hope we can do that again, soon!" she said happily.
"Hello ladies," AJ said as he walked over to them. "And what are we talking about?"
Mandy giggled, "Nothing."
AJ put his arms around Desiree and the others just watched as she turned beet red and smiled.
Kevin and Nick soon came off the stage and stood with everyone else. The sound of screaming fans soon filled their ears as they were being let in. Kerri and April went over to the side door and peeked out, watching hundreds of fans rush to their seats.
"Aren't we glad we aren't that weird?" April said with a laugh.
"We should probably get out there," Kevin said.
"Yeah, we'll see you ladies in a bit," AJ said, letting go of Desiree to her disappointment.
The girls watched as the 5 of them went to their places backstage. The screaming shouts of crazed fans only made Desiree and Kerri start making jokes. All of the sudden, the lights went out and the fans screams only got louder.
The girls went to their little area backstage where they could see the whole concert. Once again, they started with Larger Than Life. A quick little explosion towards the back of the stage made their five silhouettes appear to the fans. Desiree started screaming when AJ did his little scream and the song began.
The concert went on and on and then they did it, they began to sing I'll Never Break Your Heart. Kerri watched as Desiree's eyes welled up with tears. As they sang, AJ went over to where the five of them were standing and led them onto the stage. Brian gave each of them a rose and took April by the hand. Mandy nearly passed out when Kevin brought her over to his little spot on the stage. Kerri and Desiree just smiled and winked at each other as the song went on. Now this was truly a night to remember……
