The next morning Stacey woke up feeling so happy, like she didn't have a care in the world. Except for the fact that she still had to tell A.J. about her and Nick seeing each other. She knew he would abject. Then she heard the hotel phone ring. Stacey answered it saying hello very groggily.
"Hi Stacey, it's Nadine." a woman said. Nadine was her modelling agent.
"Yeah, hi." Stacey said
"Look, I have a proposition for you. We want you to sign a three year contract modelling in, listen to this, EGYPT!"
"What?" Stacey said stunned
"That's right Egypt. If you sign it, you'll leave in two days. I know this is short notice, but it will be so great. They want to pay you a million a year." Nadine said excitedly.
"Well, I don't know. You see..." Nadine butted in right before Stacey could finish.
"It will be great. I'll send the papers over this afternoon." Nadine hung up. Stacey was shocked. She didn't want to leave Nick or A.J. She had just become happy and now a once in a lifetime opportunity comes along and she doesn't know whether to go for it or stay with her brother. A.J. always told her to catch it if you can. Stacey loved modelling and always wanted something like this. She would just have to ask Nick and A.J. Stacey went to A.J.'s room and told him.
"I don't know Stace', I mean, it's an excellent chance for you to do something great, but I don't know if I can let you go." said A.J. sadly
"I know, that's why I came to you. I always use to come to you for advice. So, what do you think?" she asked
"Well, I think you should go for it. It will be hard to say goodbye, but who knows when you'll get another chance like this." said A.J.
"Okay. I'll think about it." said Stacey. Stacey stood up and gave A.J. a hug and said,
"I love you Big Bro."
A.J. said back "I love you too Lil' Sis."
Stacey went to Nick's room and told him.
"That's great." he said. "How can I let you go though?"
"If I go I'll miss you so much. A.J. said go for it, but I just want to be with you. All I want is for you to be happy." she said
"I'm happy if you're happy. I think you should do it if that's what you really want." Nick said. The hugged and Stacey cried in his arms and he rocked her every so gently and kissed her on the top of her long soft brown hair.
Two days later Stacey got ready to goto the airport. Nick had to come later so A.J. wouldn't see them say goodbye. A.J. drove Stacey to the airport. They exchanged hugs and kisses and tears and goodbyes. Stacey told A.J. to go because it would be to hard to wait any longer. Five minutes before boarding call Nick arrived. He stood there, just watching her sip her diet coke with a tear running down her soft cheek and then wiping it away with her delicate hand. She caught a glimpse of him out of the corner of her eye. She looked up and said,
"Hey you."
"Hi" Nick said "Just thought I'd come and say goodbye."
"You better." said Stacey as she dropped her bags and fell into his arms. She cried. He cried. Stacey looked up at him and he gave her a kiss and started singing quietly to her "Leaving on a Jet Plane" with the lyrics fitted to each other.
"All your bags are packed, you're ready to go. You standing here outside the air plane door. I hate to wake up there to say goodbye. So I'll kiss you, (kisses her) and smile for you, tell you that I'll wake for you, hold you like I'll never let you go. Cause you're leaving on a jet plane, don't know when you'll be back again, hold you like I'll never let you go."
"Flight number 614, Orlando to Cairo Egypt now boarding." said a voice over the intercom.
"That's me" said Stacey crying.
"Please don't cry. It hurts me inside." Nick said They kissed and said goodbye and then hugged and kissed some more.
"Last call for flight 614 Orlando to Cairo Egypt." said the voice again.
"Bye." Stacey said picking up her bags.
"Bye." Nick said waking sadly. Stacey walked to the plane not looking back, afraid she wouldn't be able to go. She sat down and looked out the window, thinking it was like the first verse of Britney Spears' song, "From the Bottom of my Broken Heart". Nick looked out the airport window and saw the plane she was on. He pressed his forehead up against the window knowing his love was leaving him. The plane to off and Nick watched it slowly disappear into the distance. Stacey stared out the window remembering she and Nick shared their first kiss in that very same airport. Nick stayed at the airport with his head in his hands not making a sound or movement until Brian showed up looking for him because he had been there for like five hours and he was worried. Nick said to Brian looking up at him from the chair with a lump in his throat,
"She's really gone man."
"I know she is." Brian put his arm around Nick and led him to the car and went back to the hotel so Nick could get some sleep.
