"Excuse me miss?" Michelle heard as she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to look a young guy, about her age. He had short, spiky blond hair, clear blue eyes, and a killer smile. "I was wondering if you would like to dance?"
"Sure." Michelle said, letting him take her hand and lead her to the floor. A slow song blasted out of the speakers. Michelle listened to the words as she swayed back and forth, "I'll never break your heart, I'll never make you cry…"
"So, what's your name?" The guy asked, pulling away from her enough to look her in the eyes.
"Michelle." She said, almost whispering. He smiled, then pulled her close to him again.
"Nice to meet you Michelle, I'm Zack." He whispered back into her ear. Michelle laid her head against his shoulder as the song continued. "I'd rather die, then live without you, I'll give you all of me…" Too soon, the song ended. Zack took her hand and the went over to the bar. Michelle hopped up on one of the stools and Zack stood next to her.
"I've never seen you here before, are you new?" He asked, ordering two cokes.
"Yeah, I used to live about an hour from here. Actually, tonight is my first night in town." Michelle said. Zack just stood there, smiling at her.
"You here alone, with friends, a guy?" He asked, really wondering about if she was there with a guy. She had danced with him, but that hadn't convinced him she was single.
"I'm here with my bestfriend, my brother, and his friends." Michelle said, "Actually here they come right now. Zack turned around to see who was coming, he flinched when he saw them. Michelle noticed, "You okay?" He shook it off and nodded.
"Michelle! Dude, we thought we lost you. You were behind me one second, then I turned around and you were gone." Marie said, walking to her, then she noticed Zack, and smiled. "Oh, I see." The five guys followed right behind Marie.
"Everyone, this is Zack. Zack this is Brian, Kevin, Howie, Aj, Nick, and Marie" Michelle said, pointing to each one, almost amazed she remembered who was who. Zack gave them a weak half smile, then turned to Michelle.
"I really should be going, could you give me your phone number?" He asked quickly, as if he really wanted to leave. Michelle nodded, but she had to ask Aj what the number was. After writing it down and giving it to Zack, he took off. Michelle watched after him in disbelief.
"What was his problem?" Marie asked. Michelle just shrugged her shoulders. The seven of them had a great time the rest of the night. Michelle was asked to dance by many guys that night, including Nick, but she still couldn't get Zack off her mind.
"How you holding up?" Aj asked, sitting down at a table next to Michelle and Marie.
"I'm fine, but I'm not sure about Marie." Michelle said, her friend was sleeping, her head down on the table. "You wanna dance some more, Marie?" Her friend answered with a loud snore. Michelle and Aj laughed.
"I'll gather up the guys then we'll head home." Aj said, watching Marie, still laughing. Michelle gently shook Marie, waking her up.
"Come on girl, we need to get you to bed. I'm sure the people who work here don't want to have to clean up your spit from the table." Michelle said, helping her half-awake friend up. They met up with the five guys by the door. Michelle looked back into the club. She noticed Zack sitting at the bar, staring at her. When he noticed she was looking back, he smiled and waved goodbye. I thought he said he had to go, she wondered, what is his problem.
"Ready?" She heard Nick's voice. She broke her gaze from Zack and nodded. Marie had fallen asleep again so Kevin had to carry her back to the car. After sitting her in Aj's car, he headed over to Brian's jeep. A little while later they arrived back at the house. Michelle almost ran into the house, she had never been apart from Olivia for that long.
"Where's Olivia?" She asked when she saw Mrs. McLean.
"She in your room, asleep. Everything was fine tonight, Olivia is a very sweet little girl." She replied. Michelle smiled and thanked her before running up the stairs. Michelle silently crept into the room, making sure she didn't wake Olivia up. She smiled as she saw the little girl curled up on the bed. Michelle stood there for a while, just looking, when she felt a hand on her shoulder.
"I told you mom was good with kids." Aj whispered into her ear. Michelle turned to face him.
"Thanks for taking me and Marie out tonight, I really did have fun, more fun then I have had in a long time." She said honestly.
"Your welcome, not get some sleep. Kevin is going to bring Marie up in a minute." Then he turned and left to go to his own room. Michelle quickly changed into her PJ's and carefully got into bed next to Olivia. She was asleep before Mrs. McLean and Kevin, carrying Marie, entered the room. Kevin put Marie into bed and left. Mrs. McLean stood over Michelle and Olivia. She leaned down and softly kissed each girl on the forehead.
"Goodnight my daughters, sleep well." She whispered before walking from the room and closing the door.
