AJ covered his eyes and then when the light began to dim he looked around.
“Lisa?!?” AJ said once he focused again. “Where’s Kevin?”
“Kevin is just an excuse for me to be around you and Amy. I’m an angel sent to watch you. Amy and I are the only two who can see you. They knew you would want to come back but I was sent here to give you hope. Don’t give up on a life that you can still have. You still have a chance to live happily ever after. Isn’t that what you want?”
“Yes but what’s the point? No one needs me.”
“Not true. As much as you tell yourself that you know that a lot of people still need you. And as much as Amy won’t admit it, she still loves you. Look…” Lisa outstretched her hand and pointed. A swirl of mist formed a circle and AJ saw Amy in the middle.
“This is now. Right now she’s in this mall worrying and crying over you. She’s wondering right now if you’re alright.” AJ watched as Amy sat down on a bench and wiped a tear from her eye. She inhaled a big breath and then put on a fake smile as Brenda ushered her off to another store.
“Now take my hand. I want to show you something.” AJ took Lisa’s hand and they were transported back to Amy’s apartment and it was nighttime.
“Now watch.” AJ watched as Amy came into the bedroom and kneeled at her bedside.
“Please take care of AJ. If there is ever a way that he can come back to me please send him back to me. I miss him and love him so much. Please.” Amy made the sign of the cross and then got into bed. All of a sudden AJ was back at the mall.
“She prayed for you every night. That same prayer. He heard her prayers and made a way for you to come back. And now you want to give up. You’ve never been a quitter before…why now? AJ I can’t make the choice for you but I’ve told you all that I know. It’s time for you to decide. If you come back to heaven you’ll have no way back here. But if you stay here and stick with it at least you didn’t give up. And you’ll never have to wonder what could have happened had you stayed because you’ll already know. So AJ what do you want to do? Heaven or earth? Choose.” AJ stopped and tried to process everything that he had just seen and heard. ‘What if Amy never says she loves me. Then I’ll still have to go back to heaven and have to suffer knowing she doesn’t love me. All that Lisa has just shown me was from the past. That was how Amy used to feel. What about now? Even if she loves me will she say it? Ugh what do I choose? Love or forever serenity?’ AJ thought.
“Well AJ what is you choice?” Lisa said one last time. “Choose wisely.”
