Amy and Brenda just stared straight and didn't speak to each other. They were in shock. Finally Brenda got up the courage to say something.
"What was that? You knew him. Amy give me some answers now before I go crazy trying to sort everything out."
"It must be how he died."
"Who died? That guy? What the hell happened here?" Brenda questioned starting to get frustrated that Amy hadn't told her anything sooner.
"Ok I'll tell you." Amy pulled over to the side of the road to explain.
"You know how I got the apartment so cheap. Well it was because a ghost lived there."
"So you live this out everyday?" Brenda asked in shock.
"No this has never happened. I met him and he was so sweet. There were a couple of occurrences that he scared me but nothing big like this. He told me how he died but…but it didn't seem as bad as what I saw tonight. Poor AJ. He must have lived this every anniversary of his death for the past ten years." Amy murmured finally realizing how serious the situation was.
"I want to help him but I don't know how." She said out loud trying to figure out what she could do to sort everything out.
"I'll help you." Brenda said knowing Amy was in need of some support and comfort. Let's go to the library and check out his death. They keep records. We can find out through the newspapers and things like that."
"That's a good idea. I don't want to go home right now any ways." Amy said making a U-turn and heading towards the local library. When Amy and Brenda reached the library they headed straight for the records of old newspaper articles. They scanned and scanned through the newspapers all night, just when they were about to give up they saw it.
"Brenda…this is it!" Amy yelled highlighting the article. Brenda read it out loud even though they were both reading it.
"Backstreet Boy, Alexander James McLean, was killed today in a apartment complex uptown Los Angeles. AJ was reportedly shot in the stomach by an over obsessed fan that got through security. The music business is saddened by this tremendous loss. No news has been released yet if the group will stay together or how everyone is taking it. Updates will be kept up with in this newspaper." Amy scrolled down to the next article and read it.
"Millions lined the gates at St. Edwards Cemetery today to bid a sorrowful farewell to the respected artist, A.J. McLean from the group the Backstreet Boys. Teens filled with tears in their eyes stood watching the closed off funeral service from a distance as the group mates, Denise McLean (Mr. McLean's mother), family, loved ones, and close friends said their final good-byes as they laid the casket into it's resting place. Prayers, gifts, broken hearts, and love were left at A.J. McLean's gravesite where he now is laid to rest. Our love, respect, and best wishes are with him and his family."
"Rumors have been spread about on the death of famous singer, AJ McLean. Opinions on how Mr. McLean died have been hitting the airwaves nonstop. Some say it wasn't a fan but the girlfriend that AJ was visiting that day or maybe the group mates that were so called in the other room when AJ was shot. Police reports, family, or friends are releasing no information on this matter. Later news will be discovered as this story unfolds."
"Man this was a big deal." Amy said skimming the next couple of articles.
"None of this really helps. It just lets us know how he died which we witnessed first hand. We'll have to research deeper. We're going to have to find the group mates or his mom. Only they would know the real truth of what happened. Plus I think they would want to know about AJ being a ghost and all."
"Your right Brenda. But how would we find them. I'm sure they don't want to be brought back into something so terrible again. From what these newspapers say they got thrashed pretty hard after AJ got murdered."
"Yeah you're right but they have a right to know that AJ's still alive. Well sort of. I know…if I go home I can find out where they live. You know the guys and AJ's mom are in Orlando where I live. I'm sure I can find out something. Their number or something. I'll pack my things and then I'll catch a plane and get on this as soon as possible. Come on let's go to your house." Amy and Brenda left the library and headed back to Amy's apartment.
