"Consumer-grade" GMRS radios, found at Wal-Mart and other such stores are readily available to the general public. These radios have 22 channels and are pushed heavily upon the public. Many in the GMRS community refer to these radios as "bubble pack" radios, as they are commonly packaged in a transparent "bubble" type plastic package with a cardboard backing material. These radios differ from the commercial-grade radios used by many GMRS users, costing hundreds of dollars.
Some in the GMRS community look down upon the "bubblepacker" as a second-class user.
WHY?
Because a vast majority of such users do not have the required GMRS license!
If you are a licensed GMRS "bubblepack" user, you need to make your voice heard!
