Tuscany.
We flew in to Rome and then immedialy took the train to Arezzo to meet with Chiara. Chiara's family was exceptionally gracious and welcomed us with open arms. They arranged a nice, old farm house for us and we used this as our "base of operations" to visit the surrounding areas. We rented a car, drove around Tuscany and saw Arezzo and Sienna and generally toured the region and took in the beautiful countryside.
We stayed in a several centuries old farm house at the outskirts of Arezzo. It was at the top of a small hill and had a GREAT view of the surrounding countryside! Thanks, Chiara!!!
This is Chiara (standing, center) and her family. They had us over for several meals, which were all wonderful. Chiara's Dad makes GREAT lemoncello and her Mom was a wonderful cook.
One of the many beautiful views of the countryside of Tuscany! This one shows a set of grape vines in the foreground.
This is the view from Chiara's house. Chiara's family has a few acres and grows lots of stuff, inlcuding olives, passion fruit, and grapes. Nice digs, eh?

This is a shot of the main square in Sienna, which turned out to be a very nice, smaller town in Tuscany. Dead center in this picture is a fountain and surrounding the square were a series of cafes. We ended up eating a couple of blocks back from the square & had a nice, leisurely lunch with plenty of red wine!

Below is a view of the monestary we visited with Chiara.
One of the days, Chiara took us up to a local monestary with this wonderful view.
