1894-1897 Stewartry League
1921-22 |
The
Kirkcudbrightshire based Stewartry League was first formed in 1894-95 with
the winners being awarded the St Cuthbert's Cup. After the Stewartry
League disbanded, the three members joined with the seven other top sides in
the Dumfries & Galloway region to form the Southern Counties League. After the Great
War, there was a flurry of attempts at creating a viable league structure in
the area. The first was the Kirkcudbrightshire League which wasn't actually
formed until March 1921. The league
was renamed the Stewartry League for the 1921-22 season. As in the case of
other attempts at creating a viable league competition, cup competitions got
in the way and the championship was unfinished. |
