Originally formed in 1891 by nine clubs, the league was
officially dissolved in 1892, but reconstituted as a new league, but without
the champions Raith Rovers. The Midland League lasted for six seasons in
total, but was superceded by the creation of the Central Combination in 1897
which included four of the Midland League clubs. An
