Long version :

was a cool Saturday evening around 8:30 pm, going home after swim and reading to convince folks to come for the cracker show at the club

was going down Cunningham Road , thinking about stopping at Vikram's place as I wanted to see him ... went on

then this idiotic dodo who was on his bike stationary (same side of road as me ) though had it running as he out of the blue revved it up and started a U-turn !

I tried to avoid him but hit him and flew :( Immediately got up and started cursing him - he was sitting on the road , I wanted to go closer to him and take his bike number and give him a piece of my mind when I noticed I was bleeding profusely - my hands were red but the blood was from my fore head - I had only partially broken my fall with arms - had hit my forehead. "Helpful" folks advised me to forget him and go to Wock heart (~150 bed hospital , heart specialists !) , walked there alone ( Indians still scared of cops and accidents ) 200 metres . They gave me some cotton but said they don't handle emergencies- told me to go to HOSMAT ... I came out caught an auto (3 wheeler mini taxi) , we passed the accident site , got the guys number this time CKO 3022 , would love to kick his butt !

Anyway went to Jain Hospital as it was right there . They were very accommodating , got me help , called a plastic surgeon , called home .Was allowed a normal dinner - good thing too as I blacked out in the bath room then - had been swimming before and nothing to eat since 3pm . Mom slept with me but that was no fun - she snores and I was feeling OK , sigh " mom love precautions " I guess .

Morning, no water , no food , till 10:30 am - then a 20 minute operation - a technique called "assimilation " so there is no scar on my fore head . They gave me the anaesthetic through the long term "injection" kept in the back my left hand , did not know till later it is made completely of plastic and is flexible . Am sort of scared of injections and this the is the first time i had to have drips though I have donated my blood many times - have A minus .
Light anaesthetic was up by the end of the operation - quite incredible as they told me I will be under for an hour but I awoke when they removed the plastars from my chest that monitor the heart with an "Ouch !"
Back home in the evening . Should be back at work Tuesday and all back to normal - swimming , table tennis , bike (hmm with a helmut from now on ) in 8 days.
