Jesus: Model of Faith, Model of Humanity
1) This section focuses on Jesus but more on how he was completely human. His human side is what lead most people to believe and follow him because since he was human they could connect with him. He could feel pain and sadness just as they could hew was not free of human dilemmas. Jesus kept his faith through all his suffering. Jesus was completely controversial to what the scribes and Pharisees taught. Jesus taught God in a different way that instead of fearing him he was loving and forgiving. This section also focused on reasons to believe in God such as Kalam's Argument, Anthropic Principle, The Watch and the Watchmaker, C.S. Lewis Moral Argument for the Existence of God, The Golden Ratio, Pascal's Wager, and Degrees of perfection. 2) A)I would like to remember reading the Gospel of Luke straight through, I have never done that before, all we read were certain segments of it. I learned that most of it focuses around him healing others and teaching. I also began to understand some of the parables. In the Gospel of Luke Jesus is humble and never says that he is the messiah, but rather when people say it he says do not tell any one or be quiet. Most of Jesus' teachings focus on Faith in God rather than Church law. B) I would like to remember the Beatitudes, I have learned about them before but I never understood them. Why would anyone want to mourn or be persecuted those are completely new ideas. But now I realize that it is we should strive to be this way to have Faith. Jesus basically says it is near impossible to get into heaven wealthy, because of the temptations, but those who are poor theirs is the kingdom of heaven. C) I would like to remember some of the Arguments for God's existence such as The Anthropic Principle which says basically that the chances of are world forming to make intelligent life possible are slim but intelligent life exist therefore our world was formed deliberately to support intelligent life. Also Kalam's argument which says that everything that exists had a cause outside itself and the universe exist therefore it had a cause outside itself. And the argument from William Paley that the existence of design means there was a designer the universe has marvelous design therefore it had a designer. I would like to remember these because I think they give reason to why we believe in God's existence instead of against it. |

This picture I think shows the truly human side of Jesus
4) Am I actually listening and striving to find the meaning of Jesus' teachings or do I ignore them? 5) When I come to situations where I doubt my Faith I should think of the human Jesus and what he went through. I should try to follow him as a model of Faith. When I am tempted I should think of Jesus and what he resisted. Home Back |
