Until you
Judith McNaught
Main Characters: Sheridan Bromleigh, Stephen Westmoreland
Sheridan was Charise's paid companion. She was to accompany Charise to England to marry a baron, Lord Burleton. On the way, Charise eloped with a passenger of the ship.
In England, she was waiting at the dock, when she saw a handsome man walking towards her. She was afraid to tell him about Charise. An accident occurred leaving her with a head injury and amnesia.
The man was Stephen Westmoreland. Lord Burleton was killed in an accident when he appeared in front of Stephen's carriage the night before. He thought the lady was Charise, afraid to tell her about Lord Burleton's death.
He took her home and nursed her back to health. She was still suffering from memory loss. She thought she was Charise Lancaster. After some time, she was finally going to marry Stephen who was attracted to her. On the wedding day, Charise looked her up. When Sheridan regained her memory, she could not take the shock. She ran off, leaving Stephen at the altar.
Stephen was determined that she had cheated on him, that she dared not face him after the fraud. She had actually ran to Nicki DuVille's residence. Nicki told her everything, including the reasons why Stephen decided to marry her.
She was convinced that all Stephen felt was pity for her. She became Juliana Skeffington's governess. She met Stephen again. She really loved him, but he only had contempt for her.
When he finally realised that Nicki had a talk with her, he enlisted Nicki's help in getting her to an old ancestral chapel. He convinced her that he still loved her. They were married at the chapel.
I thought that Whitney, My Love was a wonderful book, but Until You was better. Judith is a really good romance writer. Her books are the best that I've ever read.
