HNMUN NEWS Turkiye will be represented by LYCEE DE GALATASARAY 10th graders,at the 43rd Harvard National Model United Nations Conference, which will be held in Boston ,between 13-17 February 1997. The Conference is the oldest Model United Nations Conference as well as ,with over 2000 delegates participating from all-over the world is the largest. At the meeting, like in a UN session, the participants will present their proposals and solutions for world-wide issues and will do lobbying to have the General Assembly to accept their draft resolutions. The actual success of the GSL students is the fact that they are doing a "first": For some time, Turkiye has been sending students from Private schools to European MUN conferences. But this year, for the first time,it is Galatasaray Lycee's honor to represent Turkiye at Harvard. Harvard is known with its strictness for its traditions, and has been selected the number one college in America for many times. This year,by accepting a foreign Highschool, Lycee de Galatasaray, with a special decision, to their MUN; they have broken their traditions. The 7 students are: Onur Sena Gunday, Mustafa Ali Yazici, Emir Kisagun, Ajda Ahu Giray, Mehmet Karli, Ural Akuzum and Tuvan Yalim. They have taken their alumna "big brothers"(agabey)'s helps in financial, cultural and informational areas, a good education and have synthesized these abilities with the leadership insticts inherited from the Lycee, and will represent Galatasaray and Turkiye ,in a best way,an honorable one to the 515-years of proud historical past. The delegates will be leaving on the 5th of February and will be coming back on the 19th. We wish them the best luck. Hoping that they return with a victory.
