GALATASARAY HIGH-SCHOOL
Galatasaray Lycée is a state school which is an association of education
based on the main principals of Turkish Government. It has combined the
western and the national culture.
ATATURK has examined the training and education in the Lycée by visiting it
twice. The ones graduated from Galatasaray Lycée have been dealing with
enterprises either in state or in private sector with great success. Only
male students were registrated in Lycée till 1968. Only after this year,
female students had the chance of attending Galatasaray Lycée. Turkish and
French are the two languages used for learning in the Lycée. As an addition,
English is being given as a second language. In 1968, Géneral de Gaulle, the
President of France, had visited our school and given the honor of attending
the celebratory ceremonies.
Every year 144 students are registrated to the Galatasaray Lycée by the
Entrance Examination of Anatolian High Schools.
The students of Galatasaray Lycée are due to have prep classes for two years;
only after that they can start the normal education program of High School.
At the time being there are 496 female and 1098 male students in our school.
They may be boarding students if they wish. The total number of teachers is
93:33 of them are French; whereas 60 of them are Turkish. French teachers
have been appointed by French Government; whereas the Turkish ones by the
Turkish Ministry of Education. The headmaster of Galatasaray Lycée is
Prof.Dr. Erdogan Tezic who is also the vice-rector of Galatasaray University.
