5-day Camel Trek

5 persons minimum.

Day 1: Beginning in Cairo or Sharm El Sheikh. Transfer to Abu Zenima or Moonbeach where your desert vehicle meets you and takes you off-road to Serabit El Khadim. Sleep at a camp in the Bedouin village there.

Day 2: Climb by foot to the top of Serabit Mountain via Rod El Eir ("the way of the donkey") to see the Hathor Temple there. The ancient hieroglyphics tell the story of how donkeys brought supplies for the Hathor Temple. The supplies were brought by boat from Suez to Abu Zenima. The donkeys then brought them from Abu Zenima to Rod El Eir. This temple was built by the Ancient Egyptians during the Pharonic times. It was begun during the Middle Kingdom and then expanded on during the New Kingdom by Queen Hatshepsut and Tutmosis III (2nd C. BC). Meet your camels on the top of the mountain and begin with a ride down the mountain to Wadi Umm Agraf where you sleep for the night.

Day 3: Follow Wadi ("valley") Umm Agraf to Wadi Seih where you sleep.

Day 4: Ride to Wadi Sidri and then sleep in Wadi Mukattab.

Day 5: Explore Wadi Mukattab, the "Valley of Writing," where you will see many rock inscriptions. Continue on to Wadi Feiran where your camel trek finishes. Transfer to Sharm El Sheikh, St. Catherine's or Cairo.
