Maple Lake Information
Quick overview:
Maple Lake is one of the older Cook County bodies of water. It was "constructed" sometime in the 1920's,
and the previous use of the area is not known at this time. A Northern Pike stocking progam was started on this lake in 1997
and some have reached, and exceeded the 24'' min. length(set by the state). Channel Catfish are the only other species
that are currently being stocked at this time. Along with an established Largemouth population, the lake has a good predator
base that the biologists seem to feed primarily on the shad population. This lake has numerous blugills, but carp reports have
been non-existant. It also has perch(illegally stocked), crappie and golden roaches. The downside is there is limited shoreline
access close to deep water. Most likely our first match here will be a long distance waggler match!
