Revolution

VigOtone VT 117

One of the better discs available, IMO, this one covers mostly 1967 and 1968, with a few oddities thrown in from earlier years for good measure. The highlight of the collection, for me, has to be the 23:40 "version" of Revolution 1, which is a tape playback of the Revolution 1 heard on the White Album, but not faded out as in the official release. Keep listening, and you can hear other snippets of the take which were eventually used on Revolution 9 from the same album. Maddingly, though, Yoko Ono talks over the whole process -- now if someone could just electronically remove her voice from this selection!!

Other highlights include the TV/Film versions of Revolution (fast with shooby do wops, the best version, imo) and Hey Jude, and various noodling by John on the mellotron. All in all, a great disc!
