Volume Eight of Great Dane's series of sessions The Beatles recorded for the BBC over the early years. This set is outstanding; it really gives you much more of a feel of the original broadcasts than does, say, the officially released BBC sessions double CD set (itself, a great experience -- how can it possibly be out of print now??). This set produces all known surviving recordings of the each of the sessions, chronologically. Some of the recordings are not of the highest quality (especially the earlier ones), but the overall effect is superb. What a band!
The series first became available on CD discs. This is how I first came across them (actually, I just have tapes of the CDs) and have chosen to present them here. Also available now is a wonderful single CD-ROM disc which contains all the original nine CDs, and some added material not available when the original 9-CD set was first released. Highly recommended!
