Laural River Lake , Kentucky -- Info

Laural River Lake was constructed by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and was first opened for public use in 1974. The main use of this impoundment was for the production of hydroelectric power and also to provide outdoor recreation. The lake is located inside the Daniel Boone National Forest and thus the lake and shoreline is within the U.S. Forest Services jurisdiction. The U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers cooperate together in maintaining and operating the facilities along the lake. There are numerous launching sites along the lake, but only 2 of them are located at Marinas. One area of the lake is designated as a goose management area. And within this area the use of gasoline engines is prohibited. Laural River Lake is also popular with scuba divers because of the clear water that it contains.
