This is our opportunity to introduce you to Alf the Wonder Wheaten and his "gurlfrend" Lola. Alf is actually AUST CHAMPION Larnook Wizard Ofaus a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier bred by Monica O'Kelly of Melbourne, Australia. Lola is Larnook Fashion Plate also bred by Monica. We do not breed Wheatens.
We at Remporter are very proud of Alf. He had a stunning impact in the showring during his showring and before his retirement, he won many classes in Group and in Show making him South Australia's most awarded Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and the TOP WINNING Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier in Australia for 1999 (according to the National Dog magazine Point Score). He is also one of Australia's top Wheatens if not in fact the top Wheaten in this country.
Alf was Runner Up Best in Show at the all breeds Championship Show held on 5 October 2002 and was Best in Group at the all breeds Championship Show the next day. He was also Runner Up Best in Show at the Terrier Club of South Australia in February 2002 and has two other Runner Up Best in Shows including one other all breeds.
He followed this up with another Runner Up Best in Group at Renmark also in October 2002.
He won ten Best in Groups and nine Runner Up to Best in Groups.
Alf's first Best in Group was at just 8 and a half months old! He completed his title at 10 months of age never having been beaten for a challenge and only having been beaten for Best of Breed once. Other recent wins in June 2002 include Best in Group under Cairn Terrier exhibitor and all breeds judge Mrs Iris Glynn at the WCC of SA all breeds championship show and Runner Up Best in Group at the CKCSC of SA all breeds championship show under Bull Terrier exhibitor and all breeds judge Mr Alby Reading.
He was Best of Breed at the 2002 Royal Melbourne Show from what was probably the strongest entry of Wheatens in Australia that year.
Lola has had five Minor Puppy in Group wins and two Minor Puppy in Show wins - Portland under Mr John Elston and Renmark under Mr Alby Reading, all at all breeds championship shows.
Those used to seeing a very square Wheaten may be interested to know that the standard for the SCWT in Australia is a little different from that of the USA, especially where length of back as a proportion to height is concerned. For the Australian standard go to The ANKC standards page.
