Wondabyne Mainline
A good little crag located on top of the ridge above the Wondabyne railway station (between Brooklyn and Woy Woy).
The guide for the area is the newly published Sun, Surf and Sandstone
online guide book. This crag is described here.
Climbs are described left to right.
Irongut (1st pitch only) 12m 13
Follows the obvious orange corner crack above the camping cave. Nice moves up the corner (which has surprisingly good
rock), then traverse right to belay. The second pitch continues straight up, but it didn't look very good so we soloed
off right and down the gully. We also attempted a variant second pitch heading left out over the camping cave, but the
pro wasn't that great so we didn't complete it.
Tequila Powerade 18m 19
Starts at the short, thin flake below the highest part of the Great Grey Wall. Head directly up the wall above the
flake, moving right at the top to gain the rounded groove and short crack. Exceptionally runout through the upper
section (which is also one of the cruxes).
FA: R. Garner (led), H. Brotchie, P. Monks, 19th August 2001
Farewell Miriam 23m 13
Not too bad at all. Follows the line of weakness right of TP till it ends, then traverses 7m right to the tree and
short gully. Take care with pro - the crack is quite rounded and dirty.
