Nicholas and Alexandra Romanov

Nicholas and Alexandra were the last crowned Tsar and Tsarista of Russia. Their private lives have been of much interest through the past 100 years. Their death in 1918 in Ekaterinburg by the Bolsheviks has increased that interest tremendously. This page is dedicated to them not as rulers of 1/6 the globe, but as a family.
The Nicholas and Alexandra Exhibit that briefly toured the US has returned to Russia, however, you can still visit the website. For a link to the exhibit's web page as well as a chance to vote for your favorite Romanov, click here.
Nicholas and Alexandra had five beautiful children during their 23 years of marriage. To learn more about them click on their names below. As you explore our pages, you will notice OS or NS after the dates. Old Style (OS) refers to the Julian Calendar which was used in Imperial Russia. At the turn of the 20th century this calendar fell 13 days behind the Gregorian Calendar, referred to as New Style (NS), used everywhere else in the world. After the revolution, the new leaders converted to the Gregorian calendar.
