Parsian Year 320, Lusitanian army conquered the neighboring country, Maryam, then attacked Pars...
The 14-year-old Parsian crowned prince, Arslan , is riding across the field which is now covered by dead soldiers. Looking at the dying soldiers, Arslan remembers the day that the royal knight, Darun , had an arguement with his king father, Andragoras. At the same time, Darun is looking for Arslan but meets Karlan, who is with Lusitanian army now, thus Lusitanian soldiers charge with Darun, but Karlan flees. Darun frees himself from those Lusitanians and keeps seeking of Arslan. On the other side of battle field, King Andragoras is surroundered by enemies who are led by a man with a silver mask. Finally, Darun finds Arslan and decides to go to his good friend, Narsus, and they stay the night in Narsus's cabin. Narsus and Darun talk about the Parsian queen, Tahamine, while Arslan is sleeping. Narsus says that the beauty of Tahamine and the mysterious atmosphere around her are powerful influences which "enchated" both Andragoras and his brother, Osiris.
Lusitanian army comes up to Narsus and commends to search for the "fugitives" in the next morning. Because of their arrogant attitude, Narsus "dumps" them to the water tank. Arslan asks Narsus to help him leave the capital to join with other Parsian force. Since Narsus is touched by Arslan's sincere attitude, he promises Arslan.
In the capital, the evil priest, Boden, is torturing a man who is tightened on a cart and is shown publicly. Suddenly, an arrow flys from the tower kills him immediately. The person who shoots the arrow is invited by a royal soldier to the palace. The person introduces himself as Gieve, a poet, and gets the reward from the "queen" because she thinks that Gieve did a merciful thing by killing that man. At night, Gieve is called out by the "queen" who wants to flee out of the palace under his help. In the underground tunnel, Gieve smiles and says to the "queen": "You're not the real queen. The real queen has fled already, you're just her scapegoat." The woman angers because her real identity is revealed, she kicks Gieve hard on his...(um...) and runs away. However she's killed by the Lusitanian army who are patrolling the castle.
The brutal killing continues in Pars. The man with the silver mask looks out from the castle and ponders. Karlan is called up to search for Arslan and Darun by Giskal, who is the younger brother of Lusitanian king.
Some Lusitanian soldiers on horses are chasing a beautiful woman. Gieve sees it and dreams about saving her and getting her thank. Although this young woman rides fast on the horse, she shoots arrows and knocks down the Lusitanians. Gieve is impressed, and keeps calling the woman to get her attention. The woman ignores him at first until he calls her "Great beauty". Gieve intruduces himself and asks where she's going. She tells him that her name is Farangese, the priestess of Misra Temple, and she's going to find the Parsian crowned prince, Arslan. Gieve feels interested so he follows her.
In the evening, Karlan leads Lusitanian army to chase after Arslan. They has a severe fight.(Or we can say, Darun and Lusitaninas have a fight, since Arslan doesn't do anything much) Farangese and Gieve come up and help. Karlan is killed by Darun, but before he dies, he keeps repeating:"The real king...should be...The real king...should..."
Boden is still doing his evil business in the capital. Darun and Narsus go to the town to eavesdrop some information. Darun asks a former Parsian soldier about where King Andragoras is. He says that the king is prisoned, but the queen will probably be arranged to marry the Lusitanian king. Suddenly, the man with the silver mask appears and fights Darun, but his mask is knocked out and Darun sees that there's an ugly fire scar on his right-side face. Narsus comes out so the man flees while Darun loses attention on him.
In the prison, the "Silver Mask" walkes towered to leashed Andragoras. He takes off his mask and tells Andragoras that his name is Hilmes, the son of Andragoras' older brother, Osiris. He accuses Andragoras of killing Osiris in order to seize the throne. Andragoras laughs like crazy after Hilmes left.In Narsus' cabin, Arslan decides to gather up all the force that he has right now to fight back to Pars and rescue all the Parsians.(Such a great aspiration!) So they decide to go to Pershwa Castle, which is the largest fortress of Pars in the east border and is now hold by general Kishuwade.
