When I saw the first issue of Gunsmith Cats: Bean Bandit in my local comic shop, I practically kicked small children out of my way to grab a copy before they were all gone. It was exactly what it appeared to be: Bean Bandit's run in the GSC manga, which Dark Horse Comics was producing in America. Sonoda's talent with both writing and illustrating does not disappoint. I highly recommend that you get your own copies of the comic books. But until that time, I put a touch of background and teaser garnered from what I have purchased so far of the story. After I have all of the issues, I will revamp the page to be neater and more explanatory. Enjoy!

There are nine parts in this run, called "Gunsmith Cats: Bean Bandit." Whichever saga was running before this one apparently also included some things about Bean Bandit, but I haven't been able to find it yet.

Apparently Rally, at some point, was doused with multiple shots of Kerasine, a potent hallucinogen. While under it's influence, she let a killer she was chasing get away and even took a couple of shots at Roy. Because of this, even two weeks after the incident, her doctor is still advising that they wait a bit longer to be sure that none of the chemicals are still in her system. Because of this, however, Rally's bounty hunting license, driving license, license to carry, license to run a gun shop, etc. are all being withheld. Angered and upset, Rally resolves to extract her revenge upon Bean Bandit. He was involved in the whole drug-killer-escape thing, it would seem, though to find out details, one would have to find the saga preceding this one.

Rally follows Bean to a strip bar, where he apparently is making a courier deal with a client by the name of Glass. He has to pick up $1 million worth of drugs. For running the deal, he'll get $25 grand up front and $25 more on delivery. To ensure that Bean and the Glass' aid recognize each other, Glass gives him half of a dollar bill. The other half has already been sent on ahead to Glass' man. Rally chases Bean out of the bar, furious that he would help a drug run. They make a deal:
"If Rally keeps Bean from making the run without the help of her cop friends, and Bean will never run drugs again. However, if she screws up, she has to 'keep her nose out of his business... for good!'"

For those perversely interested, the second issue has Bean in the nude! (Butt and chest shots only though...) I'll keep from spoiling the plot with any more in depth details. In issue 3, Bean meets up with Riff Raff, the "Snake Charmer," whose boss challenges Bean to race for the half dollar bill so that he might obtain the powder Bean's supposed to go pick up... the real street worth of which appears to be $10 million as opposed to $1 million!

Rally, who has been secretly following Bean, chooses then to pop up and demand to be allowed to join the race too. "Borrowing" the car of a guy who was hitting on her, she enters as the third party. The the bets are antied up, and from issue 4, the race is on with:
Bean Bandit driving a Ford Boss 302 Mustang and staking his reputation and the $10 million in drugs he was supposed to courier
Riff Raff driving an AC Cobra and staking that same car
Rally Vincent driving a brand new Viper and staking her GT 500

Unfortunately, my local comic shop stopped carrying the GSC: RB series run, so I won't be able to provide further updates until I can find some other roundabout method of purchasing the comics. Of course, you can always buy it yourself, which would probably be for the best. Support the series!
