Today I had a shooting of some kind of film.  There, when I was talking with a certain person, the following thought came in my mind.......A certain band attended in an event last year.  On that event, many bands of various genres from various countries gathered and played at the place. It was All-Standing.  It was no wonder, that some of the bands went further to do something like MOSH or DIVING.  I 'd rather say, to do those things in such an occasion is natural as well as much fun.  Audiences who know what it is could receive the diving-guy, return him up to the stage.....and all these would spread peculiar sympathy all over the scene.  This is really thrilling and exciting......HOWEVER, a group of fans, that was sticking to the certain band I mentioned, TOOK OVER the front line all the time from the beginning, until the band of their aim appeared.  And finally (when the band started play), they were sandwiched between the crowd and the fence, fainted.....of course not knowing how to receive a DIVING, fainted again.  Other audiences who had expected enjoying MOSH-PIT were annoyed.  It even caused distrust in the quality of the band itself, and some people are speaking in negative voice about having those bands (with clinging fans) for the same event this year.  I understand their (= fans') feeling in a meaning.  They might have gotten their ticket by standing in the line all-night.....They might have been not very used to joining a Standing-LIVE.....I can understand that how they were afraid of loosing their seats.....I know it, but I dare say.....those people who are eager "to see it close", THEY are the people who break up the whole event.  They are great annoyance.....to people who want to enjoy bands or the event itself.....  Fainting by complete exhaustion in the GIG is sometimes inevitable.  However, it is quite dangerous to keep the front-line positions at a Standing-event all the time from beginning to nearly end, just in order to see the band of aim at the closest position, with no consideration of one's own stamina nor length of the event.  AND it is quite annoyance to other audience who really wanted to enjoy the scene.  I just want you think about it.

I am planning tour schedules these days, and I had been intended to make several Standing-events until I heard this story.  It compelled me to reconsider about having Standing-event.  It reminded me the situation at the 1st tour, on the Final Standing-LIVE at the Club Chitta.   The LIVE was interrupted again and again.  (Though there was also some problem in our ticket-selling method at that time.)  Now, how do you think about it?  As a stage-man, I am really concerned about the attendants' safety at my GIG; This is a critical problem for me partly because, for any accident happened at my events, I have some kind of responsibility.  She, the girl fallen down, is all right or not?....This is very serious matter for me who play and present my own events.  However, when I speak as one of the audience at certain events, when I speak as a person who wants to enjoy GIGs and events, I would say, "Don't take up the front line at a Standing event, unless you can keep standing.".....This is my honest confession, though I know you have a lot of your opinions or claims against it.  I won't pay an attention to any criticisms like, "Even so, those GIG-amateurs are still paying the price for their seats.  On the standpoint of common sense in a society of capitalism, any person who paid for it should be allowed to occupy freely any place he wants.....".  It's stupid, absolutely out of the point.  Indeed, those people who speak like that will always be the FIRST to be taken care of by the Securities; Those are the ones who interrupt.  I would like to claim to them, "Choose your proper positions only after you considered about your capabilities".  You know, Standing-GIG is really a great fun.  Therefore, it is all the more special in a mean that an accident could end up in either ways, positively or negatively.  We should always have this in our mind.   For those people who are not intended to enjoy the event, the event itself would not have any importance.....I guess.  They might simply be concerned, not to miss even ONE gig of their favorite band.  I don't completely deny your passion.  But I know, in such case your precious band-men would be claiming in their mind to you, "Please never ever come gain!".  I was always thinking this when I was simply one of the audiences; And this comes home all the more to me now since I myself started playing on the stage.  However, inspite of my warning, if you were caught in a tough situation (at the standing-GIG), don't try to stand it....Just escape from that location quickly......This is an important point. I am writing this in such a long text....But it's not something very special.  A common sense.  Those who are used to GIG would understand what I mean.  To those who don't have an experience yet, but are intended to go enjoying GIG in the future, it might sound as if there are some bothersome rules; There is not, actually.  Basically, anything is allowed in the scene of a GIG.  That is why I would like you keep a bit of this matter in your mind, to obtain complete freedom at a GIG.  I am talking about how to be ready to enjoy GIG..... Not that I am intended to give a reproof to you, nor threatening you.....This is another important point.  Any opinions, etc. about this matter is expected in ML or BOARD.     

Additional comment: If one tried to list all the contradiction related to GIGs or concerts, actually there are infinite numbers of it.  This is of course not a matter of morality or something like that.  What I am talking is rather about knowhows to enjoy the scene.  From the beginning, at any Standing-event or any Hall-concert, DIVING is NOT allowed, of course.  Nor I am agitating it.   (I am adding this as a self-justification.....)  It's just about a knack; The point is simply "get a knack".....

Additional comment 2: Concerning simply how to enjoy the sound, the front line is the WORST position.  Naturally because, usually, the front line is behind the PA-speakers.  Speaking about myself, when I had been used to go to GIGs before, ONLY cases I was happy to stay there all the same are, those occasions when I wished to "be raped" and "be broken up" by the sound.  In those times, I was so senseless that I did not regard Security person to be a human-being.  No other person was in my sight.  By devoting my mind so deeply into the space of the sound, it was as if my ethic and sense were under control of sound and rhythm....  I was simply listening to the songs, and sometimes wanted to see the scene as a whole or was looking for a better place to hear the sound.....anyway I was trying to be apart from the crowd.  You know, I was never sensible nor decent.....at least when I was with ROCK.....anyway, these are already reminiscences.....[BGM: JUNKIE XL]

It's been a long time since I wrote "DISCS" last time.....However, now I am not very strongly motivated for it, actually.  I found my heart pounding at a record shop with so much expectation for this album.  There has been no other disks which gave me this kind of excitement since when I bought NIN's video some time before.  A man who was on the covering page of free-paper I found on the street (when I was shooting a film for TV show)...the name is SCOTT WEILAND....He was the only ACCEPTED BEING by his great songs and performances, inspite of recent Rock Scenes in US where the word "Sex Symbol" is almost dead or taboo. The X-vocal of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS.  His solo album, "12BAR BLUES/SCOTT WEILAND" was released and was piled up in the record shop.  I was so....so full of expectation (20%) and anxiety (85%) (In some cases, my sensibility exceeds 100%), when I brought it back my home. .....This album was, if only I did not know Stone Temples, surely would become one of my personal heavy-rotating disks. However, there is not that bursting groove nor the acid-taste which he had when he was combined with that BROTHERS' song....Hey, Scottie!  If it's true that you stopped injecting something cold into yourself, why don't you join to that brothers' company again? I am a radio personality of "All Night NIPPON R" from this April. Yesterday, a few broadcasts were recorded.  This is a TOUGH job!  At first, I have underestimated it, like "It's easy.  I can simply play my favorite songs (CDs)."....However....of course, I MUST keep talking, because if I stopped talking, it would be taken as a broadcasting accident.  The only relief was that the director was a nice person....but I have to continue this for half a year!  How is it going to be? JOE, the Greece in the Parthenon, has already joined us and now we are in the midst of Recording.  Besides, another full-album of mine as ZILCH will be also released in this summer.  Some circumstances have been preventing its release, though the album itself had already completed in last August. An album by SPREAD BEAVER will be released in advance.....  Anyway, at hand, "PINK SPIDER" on 5/13 and "ever free" on 5/27.  The rectangle jacket of single CD is usually too small to contrive to do some fun, but this time I put something interesting on it.  I hope you will enjoy that, too.
