________________________________________________________________________ Fei hummed quietly as his paintbrush ran against the canvas of his painting. He carefully manuevered the bristles to fill in a particularly intricate part of the work. He was so immersed in it, that he hadn't noticed Bart getting fidgety.

"Are you done yet?"

Fei was startled and almost dropped his paintbrush. He looked over the easal to see Bart sitting on the bed. Fei had agreed to come and keep Bart company in his room. He decided that finishing his painting at the same time would kill two birds with one stone.

"I'm not the one who got put under room arrest by Maison and Sigurd. You should know better than to sneak out alone." Fei teased.

Bart pouted and crossed his arms in front of his chest. He heaved a huge sigh and flopped back on his bed. Fei returned back to mixing some paint.

"Fei?"

"Yes?"

"Do you ever question the meaning of everything?"

Fei looked up from his mixing. He was sure that his face had a look of sheer shock plastered on it.

"Sometimes. Why, are you having a moment of doubt?"

Bart grinned and turned his head to look at Fei.

"Nah, I was just thinking there's so many things that I haven't done yet. I haven't been near a real body of water in ages. I haven't seen my castle in forever. There's a lot of things I want to do yet, and it just doesn't seem that I'm ever going to get them done."

"So, that's all you were thinking about?" Fei bated Bart.

Now, the flirting began.

"Why?" Bart asked slyly. "Do you think that I have something else on my mind?"

Fei calmly cleaned a dab of red paint off his hand. He nonchalantly flipped his long strands of hair back from his eyes.

"It just seems to me that a guy like you who rarely has deep thoughts would suddenly come up with a very deep one. I know you Fatima. You are wanting to bring up something else."

Bart shifted on the bed so he faced the other way. He relaxed on his stomach and rested his feet on his pillow. Bart rested his head on his folded arms, propping his chin so he could still see Fei.

"Have you ever been kissed?" Bart casually asked.

Fei stirred a little green paint around on his mixing tray. He nodded.

"Of course. Why, haven't you?"

"Of course I have!" Bart feigned a look of mock insult.

Fei smiled and dabbed some of the green paint onto the canvas.

"So, why did you ask?" Fei couldn't resist leading the conversation on.

"Well, you know, it was just something I was thinking about."

Fei stood back from the canvas and studied the painting.

"I think a few more swipes with the blue and it'll be done."

"Are you changing the subject?" Bart sarcastically questioned.

"No, not at all, it's just an artist's thing. What else were you thinking about?"

Bart couldn't help but get a mischevious smile on his face. He moved some of his golden hair from his good eye. Fei had returned to the painting and was adding the last touches of blue to the picture.

"Have you ever kissed a guy?" Bart asked slyly.

Fei set down his paint brush and wiped his hands on his pants. He didn't respond immediately to Bart's question.

"There. I think it's done."

Bart couldn't believe that Fei seemed to have ignored his little proposition. He frowned and began to pout again.

"No, I haven't." Fei finally responded.

Bart was stunned to hear him speak. He looked up at Fei who was looking quite amused behind the easel. He was rinsing out his brushes and closing up his paint jars.

"Have you ever wanted to?"

Fei gave a very mysterious smile.

"Why, have you?"

"I've thought about it sometimes. You know, see if it was any different from kissing a girl."

Fei picked up the sheet he used to cover his art with. He draped it over the painting and straightened the sheet out.

"Hey, I didn't get to see it yet!" Bart complained.

"You can't until it's dry."

"How long will that be?"

"Oh, two hours, maybe ten years." Fei teased.

Bart raised an eyebrow and felt a huge smile pull at his lips.

"So, Fei, do you think it is different kissing a guy?"

Fei approached Bart and knelt in front of the bed. His nose rested tip to tip with Bart's nose.

"Why? Did you want to try?"

"You have paint on your cheek."

Fei wiped his cheek and a streak of red paint came onto his finger. He sighed.

"I was never good at staying clean."

Bart and Fei were still nose to nose. They were both smiling.

"Well, I guess we could." Bart finally responded. He wondered how much excitement came out of his voice. He was trying to stay cool and disconnected about the whole deal.

Fei smiled and chewed on his bottom lip.

"So, who makes the first move?" he quietly asked.

"Um, I don't know." Bart felt a flush of anticipation touch his cheeks.

"Well, since I'm on the floor, I guess I will."

The first two times that they tried to kiss, they failed miserably. Bart cracked up the first time and Fei did the second time. When their laughter subsided, Fei shook his head.

"I won't be able to do this unless we can keep from laughing."

"Okay, I promise I won't this time." Bart could already feel the tickle of a laugh forming in the back of his throat.

"All right, Fatima, I'm going to kiss you now whether you laugh or not."

Bart nodded preparing to bust up. But, it didn't happen. Fei's lips barely touched Bart's and any urge to laugh quickly subsided. It had the same awkward feeling that all first kisses had. Neither knew when to pull back and when the kiss finally broke, they looked at each other with questioning eyes.

"So, uh, how was it?" Fei nervously asked.

"It, uh, it was nice." Bart couldn't think of anything else to say.

Fei gave a look of mock hurt. He turned his head and glanced away from Bart.

"Only nice? Flowers are nice, Fatima."

Bart grinned and reached out his hand to turn Fei's head back to face him.

"How about good?"

Fei shook his head as Bart began to lean forward again.

"How about really good?"

Fei shook his head again, leaning back farther so Bart had to stretch to reach him. Fei had a wicked smile on his face when Bart's lips were barely a half an inch from his.

"How about incredible?" Bart breathily whispered.

"That's more like it, brat prince."

Fei leaned forward and sealed the kiss. Bart relaxed back onto the bed and Fei leaned forward all the way again. The kiss was different now. It didn't have the same awkward touch as the other did. When their lips parted, Fei's dark brown eyes and Bart's topaz blue one held a deeper connection.

Fei stood up and sat on the bed, his back resting against the headboard. He gently tugged on Bart's vest for him to turn around. Bart did and crawled over to Fei. Fei wrapped his arms around Bart and pulled his legs over his. Soon, Bart was resting sideways on Fei's lap, one of Fei's strong arms supporting him around the waist. He caressed Bart's eyepatch with his free hand. Within moments, their lips met again, soft, sweet kisses that seemed to last for an eternity.

Fei broke one of their kisses. He ran his fingers through some of Bart's golden hair, mussing the already disheveled locks. Bart reached up and touched Fei's face, tracing his own fingers over Fei's lips. Fei gently placed a kiss on Bart's fingers.

"Can I kiss you with my tongue?" Fei asked quietly.

Bart nodded, feeling a new kind of flush shoot through his body. He parted his lips and very carefully, Fei slid his tongue in. The feeling was foreign and Bart jerked back for a moment. Fei held him still and soon Bart kissed him back with equal force. The kisses seemed to connect to one another, their lips never really parting.

"Bart...I should...really...check...to see...if the...paint has dried." Fei mumbled through their kisses.

"Less talk. More kissing." Bart mumbled back. Fei smiled through the next few volley of kisses.

Fei moved Bart off his lap and laid him on his bed. He relaxed his body on top of Bart's, pleased to here the young pirate moan a little. They continued to kiss, finding what each one liked and didn't like. Of course, neither one found much that they didn't like. Fei began to kiss Bart's chin, when the intercom came on in Bart's quarters.

"Fei? This is Shitan. I know that you don't like to be disturbed when you paint, but I need your assistance in the med suite. I would have Sigurd help me, but he's down in engineering."

"Painting isn't the only thing I don't appreciate being interrupted doing." Fei mumbled. Bart couldn't suppress a giggle.

"Fei?"

"That's fine, Doc. I'll be up to the med suite in a few minutes."

"Thank you, Fei. Bart is still in his room with you, right? He didn't sneak out, did he?"

"No, he's resting comfortably on the bed." Fei sneakily said. Bart had to bite his bottom lip to keep from laughing.

"All right, then, I'll see you in a few minutes."

The intercom shut off just in time, because both Fei and Bart broke out in fits of laughter. When they had finally gotten control of themselves, Fei looked at Bart with his gentle brown eyes.

"I have to go."

"Uh-huh." Bart whispered and their lips met again. Fei managed to slide off Bart and still keep the lip lock. He finally slid off the edge of the bed and had Bart kneeling. He regretfully broke the kiss.

"I mean, I really need to go Bart."

"Yup." Bart got off the bed and slid his arms around Fei's neck. They stood there for a few minutes, exchanging small pecks.

Finally, Fei got to the door. Bart and him stood at the doorway and continued to peck each other, much quicker since time was running out.

"I really, really have to go Bart."

"I know." Bart sighed regretfully.

He stepped back from Fei and Fei smiled at him.

"I'll see you later, then?"

"You better or I'll trash your painting."

Fei grimaced at the thought, but quickly flashed a smile. He stepped out of the sliding door and headed for the med suite.

Bart turned from the door, feeling the blush of Fei's kisses. He walked over to the painting that had been covered by the sheet. Curiousity got the best of him, and he carefully took the covering off the picture. Immediately, a tear formed in the corner of his eye and he choked up a little.

Fei had painted a picture of Bart in his arms, their lips about to meet. At the bottom of the painting, in small print, were two little words.

"Kissing you." Bart read out loud. He wiped the tear away from his eye. "Thanks, Fei." he whispered quietly.

The intercom suddenly clicked on in Bart's room again.

"Young Master?"

"Yah, Sig?"

"We need you down in engineering to work on some valves."

"Okay, I'll be there in a sec."

"I do expect you promptly."

The intercom shut off. Carefully, Bart replaced the sheet over the painting and stood in front of it for a little longer. He smiled to himself and then turned and left his room quietly.
