I love the way young children draw. In my class, my students have many opportunities to write and illustrate their own stories, which we have made into books. I usually give them a topic and let them come up with their own ideas. We have written home remedies, tabloid-type news stories, and many personal experience stories. The children love the chance to be creative, and I enjoy reading what they write. A few weeks ago the topic was "If Mrs. Nihart wasn't a teacher, what would she be?"
