Here is some useless information taken from a site that compiles the 1000 most popular girl names ---In the 1960's, 248 baby girls were named JANIS(RANKED 447 THAT DECADE), in the 1950's,932(!) were named Janis(rank 185----the name Janice did not appear in the top 1000 that year, due to the popularity of Janis Paige, I guess; in the 1970's, 87 girls were named JANIS(RANKED 846 THAT DECADE), OUR NAME DID NOT EVEN FALL IN THE TOP 1000 IN THE '80'S OR 90'S--neither did Janice. IN THE 1940'S, there were 177 named Janis,(ranked708), in the 1930's , 245 were named Janis (ranked 290) and in the 1920's, 75 were named Janis (ranked 640)--THIS IS THE FIRST DECADE IT APPEARS. Of course there were many more named Janice, but they don't count, as we all know. JANICE appears in the top 1000 in the decades 1900-1909(79 janices ranked 501); AND DECADE 1910-1919 (202 jANICES, RANKED 328). MY CONCLUSION AFTER THIS IS THAT OUR NAME IS ALMOST DEAD.

Janis Nihart, Beautiful Genius, I also, put together this page. I was named after Janis Paige because my grandma liked her, and I guess coming from a French Community, it was a name she had never heard before, and liked the name. I like reading about strange things(serial killers,real life mysteries, and eschatology)and etymology(word origins). My best friend in Junior High and High school was also named Janis. Today she is a nurse and has ne daughter and several grandchildren. Below is a picture of her when I first met her in sixth grade at Golden Meadow Upper Elementary.
