Besides Heath, I know very little about Toshi. It's strange but he doesn't stand out as much as the other vocalists for other jrock groups, at least not in my mind. He and Yoshiki are childhood friends. Did u know that their first kiss was with each other? Read that on someone's page..hehe! I can't take credit for that one. And for this one..he had the chance to be a doctor, but Yoshiki talked him into becoming a musician.
Toshi's voice is very scratchy i think, not the best voice ever. But distinctive enough to be remembered. And he sings the ballads beautifully. ^^
In '97 he chose to quit X-Japan and follow his own path. There's a lot of mystery surrounding the decision still..even after almost 2 years. Some feel he has betrayed X. It might be attributed to his association with a certain religious organization, which is viewed by many to be cultish. After his departure, there was news of his marriage to a woman. It certainly came as shock to me because it was rarely mentioned on any of the webpages I visited. Him leaving X, is still a sore point with many fans.
For now, Toshi is flying solo. Nothing much is ever mentioned of him or his latest works. I don't know any info to tell you. It's sad that he did choose to leave. But we all have to find our own way..even if it's a lonely path. I wish him well and hope he finds what he is looking for if he even knows....
