The first jet-powered helicopter in the world,
the first IAF Alouette was donated by a Jewish French woman, who requested
that the words "The Lord Sees" (Genesis 22:14) be inscripted on the fuselage.
A total of 15 choppers served on rescue and patrol missions. It's "heyday"
came in the early 70's., pursuing terrorist infiltrators in the rugged
territory above the Jordan Valley. The aircraft was briefly returned to
service in 1981.
