Teal at the Fireplace Clavel Clavel looks up from his whispered conversation with Christian. Out loud, he says to Christian, "Please accompany Craelan and check out our wagons." Lowering his voice slightly as to not bring attention from the townspeople, he adds, "The weapons in the wagon should be securely covered with a tarpaulin to keep curious eyes away. Make sure it's done. And when ye come back, ye may join us by the fire if ye're interested in my story. Ye pass the invitation to Sir Craelan as well." Christian and Darrin Christian bows, and says, "As ye wish, Milord." He then turns and heads to the bar, and speaks with Darrin for a minute. Darrin nods, and eyes bright, cheeks flushed and grinning from ear-to-ear, he takes the hand of the young blond waitress and guides her over to where you are all seated. Darrin bows quickly, and clearing his throat, says, "Milord, this is Sandy. She's from Yronry and she wanted to meet you." Sandy curtsies properly, and taking Clavel's hand she kisses the back of it demurely. Christian frowns suddenly, his eyes gone wide, and he hisses quickly to Darrin, "Not now, Darrin." But it is too late. Darrin continues, with his chest proudly puffed out, "There are room upstairs, Milord, where you can get to know one another. I have taken care of all the details." He takes Sandy's hand and holds it out towards Clavel. Clavel Clavel shakes his head in amusement. "Boys will be boys." He then looks at Christian a bit sternly and asks, "Was this your idea? Setting me up with her? Wished to surprise me, eh Christian?" He glances at the waitress and looks back at the youth. His demeanor is serious and sincere. Christian is aghast and rapidly shaking his head from side-to-side. The lord then turns to Sandy, withdrawing his hand, and says, "Well. I must respectfully decline the offer, Sandy. The boys were meaning well, but I'm just not interested. Thank ye." Darrin, Christian, and Sandy "But, Milord," Darrin says. "I have heard many wonderful things about Sandy. You would have a great time..." he trails off perplexed, a bit of a frown falling upon his features. Christian says quickly, "Well, Darrin... if Clavel is uninterested than perhaps Sandy will show you the town, or something like it." Darrin blushes a bright red with eyes bulgings, "Oh, no. I couldn't..." Sandy laughs out, interrupting the young squire, "Och. Do you think any of the girls would charge our little virgin here for his first time. We've been waiting a long time to make this one a real man." Stunned Christian just stands there, glancing at Darrin, who stands with shoulders and head hanging low, and looking like he wished he were ten miles from the entire town of Yronry. Clavel "There will be no showing Sandy the 'town' tonight, lads. I'm sure she has already seen 'it'." He grins very slightly at the implication, but quickly grows stern again. "We've got much more important things to take care of. Have ye forgotten, Squire Christian?" Clavel raises a stern eyebrow. "Didn't I tell ye to accompany Craelan? WITH - Darrin? And then whisper to take 'care' of our wagon?" His tone is a bit sterner than before. Christian nods curtly, "Yes, Milord." "Off with ye now, squires." The lord waves the boys off to work, but adds, "This time Darrin is in charge. He'll decide what the necessary 'improvements' are." He claps Darrin on the back, "I'll want the important report as soon as possible. No more than fifteen minutes. Off with ye." He nods to the door where Craelan departed just a few moments ago. Darrin Darrin pale and obviously embarrased can't even find words to speak, and only bows to take his leave, when Christian reminds him. As the two young men walk to the door, Darrin's head is shaking slowly from side-to-side, and Christian is saying something to him. Zeptha Zeptha places a hand over her mouth to muffle a giggle. "I'm sorry. He is my cousin, but he is very naive when it comes to women. I apologize to all of you, and to you Lord Clavel." Clavel Clavel nods goodnaturedly. "Well. All men are naive to a certain degree when it comes to women. Darrin is just... a few more degrees more naive than the next one, I guess. No harm done." A warm grin spreads across the handsome lord's face. Andrew >Andrew watches wide-eyed this curious exchange of words. "It seems Darrin is very popular >around here," he says. "Well, Lord Clavel," he says, turning to Clavel, "you convinced >me. I think White Templars is a good name to our group. Let's do our best to change the >cosmic balance towards Good and to destroy all the forces of evil we can find." >Andrew lifts his mug. "A toast to the White Templars - may we bring Good to >this plane and all others!!" Clavel >Not having a mug, but not needing anymore drink, Clavel simply smiles and chimes in, >"Here. Here. To the Whites!" Sarij >Sarij raises a glass to join the others, "To the Templars." Calador I get ready to go Town. I tell Clavel I need some coins. I tell him for the good of this town and for the poor. I kneel and ask for a small bag of coins. Clavel Clavel turns around, when he hears Calador say he needs some coin. Seeing Calador getting on his knees, shocked, he exclaims, "Friend Calador! Off thy knees! I'm not thy liege lord for ye to need do that!!" He pulls the paladin off his knees. Giving him a friendly slap on the arm, he says to him, "No need to do that, friend. I'm sorry, but I haven't more than two gold pieces in my purse. Darrin, our caravan master, has been entrusted with the coin we gathered this day. I suggest ye go look for him in the stable and have him divide it into equal shares. Ye can take half of my share, which I gladly give to thee," he knocks once on the paladin's breastplate to emphasize this, "to donate to this pleasant town." Calador "It is my custom to kneel before a Leader or a warrior or priest. I come from a humble land. Where kneeling is part of respect, I shall bow then if you please." Clavel "Then we must both bow, Sir Calador. And hopefully, shall not... bang our heads." The priest bows graciously with a smile directed at his fellow warrior. A few minutes later > It seems only a few minutes later, and Christian hurries in the door > and over to the fireplace where you are all seated, except for Calador > and Clavel, bobbing up and down to each other. > > He waits till he is noticed by Clavel, and then begins, "Milord. Darrin > and Craelan, well...." He stops and taking a deep breath, he says, > "Darrin is not well, and Craelan will bring him in when he feels > better." His eyes as he speaks, shift towards the comforting blaze > and then to the floor. Sarij >Now fully up Sarij is aware of the situation with the health of Darrin. "This could be one of two things in my mind, either poisin, which is less likly, or the dirt an filth of the Orcs could have caused him a desiase. We must find someone who knows more of this." He is now standing with his hand firmly placed on the table, and a concerned look upon his face. Andrew >Andrew stands up, worry in his eyes, and turning to Clavel says: "It must be some after effect of our battle with the orcs. Darrin might be hurt. Do any of you have a healing spell available? Or should we look for a herbalist? Christian, tell us exactly what happened!!!!! Christian >Christian looks up quickly, and says, "Oh, no honorable mage. It is no wound from the >battle. He..." the youth hesitates, "I think it has more to do with beverage... >consumption," he finishes awkwardly. "I would have attended him, Milord, but Craelan >instructed me to inform you," he trails off again. Methos and Clavel >Methos smirks at Christian's last phrase. "Well, Clavel, as you say, 'boys will be boys'. >I'll go out and help Craelan bring our lord back in. I have this great recipe for defeating >excessive beverage consumption which I've wanting to try." Lord Blueheart watches the worry amongst the group in silence, thinking, "This group shows much promise. All are so worried for their companion," while knowing all along that it must be either the embarassment or drink that had given his squire problems. When Methos repeats his words, he smiles and shrugs as if saying, "Hey what did I tell ye?" Then clasping the wild elf by the arm, he says, "I think I'll go with ye, Methos. I've herbalist training myself." Methos walks out of the inn with Clavel by his side, mumbling something about eye of newt, wing of bat, tails of snake... you see Clavel cringe and then, the two herbalists walk out the door. Andrew Andrew can't avoid smiling at Darrin's problem. He remembers that night in the inn at Daggorford. "It seems this problem is quite common around these parts", he says Sarij Poisoned, striked with desiase, drunk, who can tell the difference, come to think of it I wish I could. Andrew > "Well Christian, now you've proved there won't be need to spill food all > over you anymore. Don't worry, I won't turn you into a frog anymore. Let's > drink this last one to that", he says, with a large smile to the boy. Christian grins at that and inclines his head slightly to Andrew. He lifts a mug, but only takes a small sip. "Please, I hope none of you make fun of... Darrin. He is just younger than I, and he only wishes to make a good impression on his new, Lord. Milady," he continues bowing to Zeptha. "I can only say that he was also very worried about your feelings in this matter...he spoke much of this entire affair early this morning. Your support will give him confidence. I remember my first experiences trying to be so perfect and do everything just so, for my parents... it seemed everything I did was wrong." Zeptha says softly, "I think I understand now. But thank you for your concern...say....earlier you mentioned Ross. You did mean...Ross Marquet, did you not?" "Yes, Milady. I had the honor of meeting him in the prescence of my parents. He is a fascinating man, though I am sure he would not remember me. It was a meeting a year ago, concerning a summer campaign, he led his forces in conjunction with the harpers to hunt down many trolls and other vile creatures that were summoned to Dragonspear Castle. Our efforts combined stopped them from coming too close to Waterdeep." With a sigh, Christian holds up his cup and says, "To your new Lord, Milady." He drinks deeply, as Zeptha takes a sip of her wine. "Hello, my lovely. Let me be the first to say > that Clavel's mind is too clouded by Tempus to see the true beauty > before him. I am Methos, at your service," bowing slightly. "May I > have the pleasure of accompanying the most beautiful woman in Yronry > tonight?" Sandy "Well, good evening. You are one of Darrin's companions aren't you?" she says with a smile. "We always look forward to seeing him. I don't remember you though, or most of these others. But Darrin did say that you had run across orcs and had a very dangerous time since Daggerford. And I do like your fancy words, Methos the gracious. I would love to spend the evening with you," she winks. Sarij Well in his quest to learn more about every cultur in the land he sits up at the new conversation and listens closly. He is still tired from his wound and lack of rest he is silent and remains an observer. Craelan to Barkeep > "Perhaps you have some rum lying about, the old kind I hope?" If so Craelan > will have a cup and approach the fire, settling his cloak behind his shoulders, > and untying his raven hair to let it fall about his shoulders. With a nod to his companions he walks quietly back up > the stairs to one of the rooms prepared for the group's shifting watch." The Watches... And the Mornining of the 25th of Tarsakh The Watches go quite well. When Andrew goes to awaken Clavel for his turn, he is met by Christian at the door of one of the guestrooms. He quickly informs Andrew that Lord Blueheart asked him to take his watch, and thanks him for doing a good job. In the morning, a huge breakfast is ready and outdoes the meal some of you had in Daggerford. Clavel and Darrin are not yet present, and Zeptha inquires of Bryn, a soft spoken young girl, who serves you this morning, how much further Waterdeep is. Bryn informs all of you that it is a day to a day and a half away, according to how fast you travel and if you have any trouble at all. Zeptha grins at all of you, and says, "Well good. Perhaps we can rest one more day in this lovely village. My beloved does not expect me until late the 27th. The festival begins on the 28th and on Greengrass, right before the 1st day of Mirtul, we are to be wed. So we could stay here one more day, leave early tomorrow and be in Waterdeep late the 27th. That would be just perfect." Methos Methos sits down for breakfast to recharge the energy spent from last night. Between bites, he says, "Staying another day in this town would be quite enjoyable. I would like to explore the town a little and learn of the surroundings." As Methos says this, Darrin and Clavel make their way down the stairs and over to the table. Darrin looks slightly distracted, but is quick to hold the chair for Clavel, and quickly brings him a hot mug of coffee. Clavel "Good morning all. Trust ye all slept, well?" Clavel politely greets his companions. "Milady," he bows to Zeptha before taking a seat. > > "So... it's been decided that we're staying." Clavel cocks his head in > surprise at Methos. > > "Well... anything interesting to be seen here, Darrin?" He takes a sip from > his hot mug of coffee and looks at Darrin inquiringly. "Did we not discuss > this yesterday?" > > Methos > Methos looks at Clavel for an answer to Zeptha's questions. "Although > I would love to stay here for another night," Methos explains as he > looks around the room for Sandy, "I thing Darrin has a point. Still rubing his eyes, and larthargically > moving towards the table. > Darrin > "No, of course not...here, Sarij," Darrin says holding a chair for the > late comer. Darrin looks up at Zeptha, and says softly, "There are > other things I must do... last minute loose ends, so that I may join > Tempus's ranks. I would rather leave today... within the hour." > Darrin bows to everyone, and heads for the door. > > Andrew > "Good Morning to you Sarij. We are deciding if we stay here or move out of > town. Let Darrin and Zephta decide, I say." > > Andrew turns his attention again to the inn's excellent bread and waits for > the groups response!!! > > Zeptha > "Well, I suppose. You are all correct. We will go when you are ready." > She sits quietly while everyone else finishes. > > > Clavel > Clavel asks Darrin in a low voice, "Where do ye think our weapons would fetch > the higher price? Here or in Waterdeep, Darrin?" His eyes inadvertently go to > Zeptha as he sips his coffee. > > Darrin > Darrin glances towards Zeptha as well, following his Lord's gaze, and > quickly says, "None would buy them here, Milord. They are gentle folk > and have no cause to bear arms." Darrin then looks back at Clavel > and says softly, "Truly Milord, in Waterdeep, better to go there." > > Methos > After breakfast, he will go outside to check on the wagon. > > Craelan > Craelan, silent thus far, finishes his breakfast, pushes his chair > from the table and stands, " Perhaps I will join you in checking the > wagon, Methos. If the rest of you will excuse me, Darrin, I will await > your orders as to whether we are leaving or not." With that he departs > the common-room and heads for the stable. Sarij While eating his breakfast Sarij sits back and coments "well today is my day of rest so I can at full tomorow to Waterdeep." Darrin Darrin looks up surprised by Sarij's comment, and says, "I am sorry, Sarij. Was there a reason you desire to rest here in Yronry. Tomorrow you can take your leisure in the greatest city in Faerun. Of course, you have probably been there before." Christian "Come, Sarij. We are both commanded still by the words of my mother, Agrardon, to see the Lady Zeptha safely to Waterdeep. I think that my newest friend has the right of it, to continue on today, lest any further ill befall us on the road ahead." With that Christian stands, and clapping Darrin on the back, pushes him gently towards the door, saying just loud enough, "So... did you last night... you know... are you now a ... man." Darrin's cheeks turn immediately to a dark crimson, and he quickly strides out the door, saying, "No... Christian...." It seems that Darrin wishes to be on the road, and soon you are all finished and although Zeptha seems not overly joyous, she smiles and leads you outside to where Craelan, Methos, Christian and Darrin have the cart, carriage, and horses awaiting you. Darrin sits on the carts bench with the reins in his hands ready to go. Sarij > "My appologies I was under the impresion that we were going to rest > here and then countinue, but no problem a rest can wait, duty comes > first." Clavel > Clavel mounts his shiny black horse and calls out to Craelan, "I trust the wagons are intact. Aye?" Methos Methos mounts his grey mare, and after rearranging his saddlebags to a more comfortable position, spurs his horse forward. "Craelan and I have checked the wagon and carriage. I will scout ahead." Methos annouces to all as he begins to put distance between him and the rest of the group. He will ride about 100 yards in front of the group, and will stay within sight at all times. Craelan " Indeed Clavel, everything was in order. Methos, I'll join you soon." With that, Craelan ties his hair back and spurs his horse forward, with the group. Later he is seen to speak to Zeptha. After which he rides forward to join Methos. Darrin is not very talkative as you ride, and seems quite distracted. Even Christian tries to speak to him, but his prescense startles Darrin and he quickly shakes his head, denying the friendly offer. Clavel Clavel nods to the two, "Aye, that's good." He then swerves his mount over to the left side of the wagon and speaks with Darrin as the group heads on its way. The road is long, and stretches far before you, but knowing that Waterdeep is somewhere ahead and can possibly be reached tonight, you are all loath to not continue on well past the sun's setting. It is only a couple of hours later and you begin to make out the outline of Mount Waterdeep and the tall spires of some of the more magnificent structures in mid-city against the waning Moon. The road slightly curves to avoid the massive harbor and leads to the South Gate. The Gate is blocked this late at night, but Darrin gladly pays a couple extra gold for the gatesman's inconvenience, and you are inside the City of Splendors. Darrin guides you with his words through somewhat crowded streets. Early revelers for the festival soon to come. Darrin leads you to a massive stone structure, some two stories high with a corral and storehouse at it's side. Darrin asks you to wait but a few minutes, and soon after going inside, he returns with two boys who are maybe twelve, who take the cart and carriage around to the storehouse. Minutes later, a light tan colored horse is led back to him, just saddled, and Darrin quickly alights, flips a coin to each boy, and then he is off, leading you back towards the west side of town. He calls out, "I'm sure Ross, I mean... Lord Marquet will be happy to find some empty beds for all of you for tonight. I'll see about your pay tomorrow, and I'll see to it that if you are looking for something in particular in town, you will have no trouble finding it. Festival starts day after tomorrow." He rides quickly, and the farther east you go, the nicer, more spacious the homes appear, with parks and peaceful areas becoming more prevalent. It seems you ride straight to Mount Waterdeep, and then taking a fork to the left, just another mile up this more secluded road. You come to a mansion right up against the base of the mountain. You are stopped by a closed iron barred gate, a circle with nine spikes, each ending in different small symbols done in Gold set square in the middle. On either side of the gate, thick white walls stretch to the far ends of the estate, their ends trail out of your sight. Three figures hail you, two are lean, muscular humans, one young and the other obviously a man who has been in many campaigns, and the third is Tag. "'Bout time, ye showed me bucko," calls out the older one. "Yer friend thought ye might show tonight." He and the younger human, begin to pull open the gate to allow you entrance. Tag whispers softly, "Tis good you are safe, Darrin." Darrin nods and leads the way onto the estate. Tag steps forward to shake hands with the youth, and there is a noticeable hesitation before Darrin reaches out to the Drow. It does not go unnoticed by Tag and the dark one peers up at Darrin somewhat curiously. "Ross, is not here, Darrin. He left earlier, not believing that I said you would come tonight. But Faron is here, and rooms have been set aside." Darrin nods, and walking his horse next to Tag, you are led up to the house, more like a mansion, proper. You dismount, and two servants are quick to come from the side of the house to see to your horses, and Tag leads the way up the stairs onto a massive porch, and then knocking gently, he pushes the door open. A blond haired man steps back in surprise, and as each of you enters, he begins to introduce himself after first bowing and kissing lightly, 'The Lady Zeptha's,' hand. "I am Faron-Du-Lac, Lord Marquet's aide-de-camp. Anything you," the words catch suddenly at the sight of Clavel, but then he continues as if nothing were amiss, though he looks askance at young Darrin. "You are welcome in the Lady's new home, and should you need anything at all, you have but to ask. I will have food brought to the dining area, but first, clothes will be laid out, and bathing water brought to each of your rooms. If you will follow me." He leads each of you to your own room, and a servant is set at each of yours disposal. Darrin enters one of the first rooms on the second floor without Faron showing him it's location and Tag slides into the room with him. Faron shows each of you to a room, before heading down a separate hallway with the new Lady of the House Marquet. Clavel, Darrin, Tag After they are shown to their rooms, Clavel decides to have a talk with Darrin and thus leaves to find him and perhaps Tag. Being that Darrin entered the first room on the landing, you are quick to make your way back there. Knocking on the door, you are surprised as it immediately opens, Tag on the other side. He faces you impassively, and then looking to a young servant who is standing opposite the door, Tag says swiftly, "Have Faron send for Lord Marquet instantly if he has not done so already." As soon as the servant hurries off, Tag peers back at you, and finishes, "Though I would imagine that has already been done." Tag steps back inside, but leaves room for you to enter, though he says nothing in the way of invitation. Darrin stands near the bed, his back to the door, slowly pulling off his travel grimed tunic. His head is slightly bowed, and since the door opened, you noticed that he had yet to notice you. "Tag," Clavel nods at the drow in greeting and strides past him. Your voice startles Darrin. He turns quickly with a vocal yelp, and immediately drops his tunic back over his head. "Darrin? Did ye notice the look Faron gave me? Have any idea what that would be about?" he asks Darrin, but looks to the drow for an answer. Darrin begins to nod, but it is Tag that says quickly, "Ross has no love for priests in his house. Especially those of the War God. Faron probably thought that perhaps he should just throw you out on your ear, and I can only imagine that it is because you are with Darrin that he did not." "Aye. I thought such," Clavel nods, a tint of sadness in his voice. "I'm sure that compared to how I feel right now, Ross will tear this house down once he hears that you have persuaded Darrin to join your church." Tag says this impassively, but from the wide-eyed look that Darrin has on his face, you might think that Tag is a little upset. "DISS-uaded him, to be precise," Clavel corrects him quickly. "I think, I shall respect the household's wishes and find other sleeping arrangements. Though... for the life of me... I do not understand why Sir Marquet would not welcome one of his own into his house." He bows slightly to Tag and Darrin, saying, "I hope ye'll be so kind as to send my kindest regards to the Lord. I shall be at the Temple if he or anyone else should need me. Please, tell the others where I'm to be found, lad." The priest then turns on his heel and opens the door. He hesitates half-way out and adds quietly as an afterthought, "'Tis a pity that we priests are so wrongly viewed by some." He then looks up from the floor and nods to the two, "Peaceful night." Darrin rushes forward to grab your arm, and try to turn you back around while crying out, "No. You must stay, Milord. I need you," he adds softly. Tag growls, "Darrin! What has happened to you out on the road? And you, priest, what do you mean dissuaded. If you are so sure you are in the right, why do you not stay and say your peace to Ross. Darrin has already said that you believe Ross to be his father, should you not stand beside him now? It is no wonder I have little use for cowards like you, who seek to stand behind a God's protection while others serve their every need. But now, you have led Darrin down a path and you will not stay here for but a few more hours to see it through." "Tag," Darrin interrupts forcefully, "Do not speak to him like that. This is an honorable man,... and... and I hoped you would be friends." "Friends with one who would steal you from me," Tag states softly. "Priests of Tempus, cowards???" Clavel snorts. "I think not, elf. At least not this priest that stands before thee, but thou wouldn't know... would thee, assuming elf?" He turns to face the drow and looks him directly in the eye. "I but only wish... to respect Lady Zeptha's new lord, Lord Marquet. 'Tis only good manners to not impose upon him and his lady as an unwanted guest. Ye have implied thyself that I am unwelcome in thy midst!" "Yet now ye deem me fit to stand beside Darrin," the tall priest shakes his head at the irony. "And yes. I did dissuade him. On the ride from Yronry to here, I had a talk with him. Told him of how Tempus... yes, Tempus himself, in the flesh, spoke to me... told me about Darrin's father. Told me even... that Darrin is in grave danger, here in Waterdeep. He also commanded me to guard the lad." Clavel holds up a hand, "No. Let me finish! Did thou really think I would leave him in danger?? No. I planned to spend the night nearby... alert and watchful. He has been chosen by the Lord," he pauses, "by his own father it would seem, to play a very important role in a ritual, OF which," Clavel stops Tag's rebuke, "ye have know knowledge of whatsoever, elf." He explains, "I had offered to be mentor to Darrin, for he had confided to me that he was sad with his present life and had always wished to serve Tempus. He even had our Lord's medallion to prove it. But when I discovered that Marquet was his father, I stepped aside, saying that I would rather see him ride as squire beside his 'own' father, as I once did beside mine own." Clavel finally says with great disdain, "From the outset, I have been brandished a snake and slaver. Now - I have no wish to listen to insults anymore. Darrin is a strong, lad. He needs no one beside him when he confronts his father. Ye should know this as his closest and dearest friend, Sir." With a frown, he moves for the door once more. Darrin looks nowhere near prepared to meet with the Lord Marquet and Tag scowls to see him lower his head. But softly, Tag says, "I long suspected it was true. I knew Anders was not your father, for I had never seen this woman that bore you before, but it took awhile to understand who your father was. But it was for him to tell you, Darrin, not I." Darrin glances up at Tag curiously, and then he nods in agreement with his friend. "As to a God speaking thus, you know I place no value in Gods and their desires, and Tempus is a sore subject in this house. He gave you the medallion, but he was not happy to do so. And since that day many years ago, Ross has not served this God, of that I am sure." "As to riding beside him, yes, Ross has been asking him for a couple of years, but now when he is tossed from the house in but a few hours, where will he go to find you. He knows where I will be, right by his side... but you, Priest?" he says staring at your back. It might be too late anyway, as just down the stairs, you hear the door open and shut, and a servant calls out, "Milord. Tis good you are home." "Where is Faron?" says a melodic, yet strong voice. Reaching the door, Clavel turns slowly around and says, "I SAID - I'd be nearby. And ye should be grateful that Tempus warned us of Darrin's danger, Elf." Frowning, with a worried expression upon his face, he steps back into the room and asks Tag quietly, "Darrin, tossed from the house? What do ye mean?" "Do you know nothing?" Tag looks at you askance, and for the first time emotions rage across his features. "Have you heard nothing I have said? Ross no longer serves your God. Whatever happened between Ross and Tempus, lies foul between them. And you think that Darrin chosen by Tempus for anything would have Ross's blessing. All hell is about to break lose in this house, and it comes up the stairs right now." Darrin still stands at your side, intently listening to every word that his old mentor says, as footsteps can be heard on the staircase. Trembling, Darrin steps out through the door into the hall, and stands directly > in front of a man that at first glance can not be related to him at all. I was doing just that," the priest nods grimly. "Call the others. We leave this household immediately." Christian pokes his head out a door, and immediately reaches for his sword and halfway unsheathes it... Darrin suddenly finds his voice, stepping in between Clavel and CJ. "Father, I will not allow you to treat Sir Clavel like this," he says tremuously turning his head towards Ross. Christian looks on wide-eyed, and Tag who still stands in the doorway wears a slight grin on his face. The effects on Ross are immediate and stunning. He does not even note that Zeptha has now entered the hall. "Darrin," he says softly. "CJ, sheath your weapon." Ross puts up a hand to the warrior in a sign to tell him to back away. He then grabs Darrin by the shoulders and turns the youth to face himself. "I wondered if you would ever find out. I feared you would one day run afoul of one of Tempus's own and that you might hear a perverted version of the truth, I'm sorry that I could not tell you, but we agreed... Anders and I. It took great effort to find out what became of your mother, who she left town with so long ago. And it was not I who found out, but Laeral, she who used to lead The Nine. She alone found out the name of Anders Miyar and who left town with him." He trails off, his features pained and guiltridden. Zeptha clears her throat to speak, but Ross looks up at her quickly, and realizing where he stands and with everyone looking on, etiquette born of years of practice emerge and he says to everyone, "My apologies. This is not how I would greet my only son. You have been invited to stay here this evening, and I am sure that Faron would have already set the table in the diningroom below this hall. Please, accompany CJ here, and perhaps Darrin and I will meet with you later. Priest," he says somewhat sharply, but when he turns to face you, his feature are much softened from his earlier fierceness. "You perhaps should stay... it seems it is what my son wishes." As he speaks, Darrin nods quickly in agreement. "Perhaps, you would come back into Darrin's room, and you would understand my anger at your God." Ross then turns to Zeptha and kneeling before her, he kisses her hand and says softly, "Milady, though I am glad to see thee safe in our home, and I know that you must be terribly confused by all this, I beg thee, allow me time with my son. He has waited a long time to know the truth. I will tell you everything on the morrow, I swear it." All Zeptha can do is nod her understanding, though in truth she looks just as confused as everyone milling about in the hall. Ross stands, and motions for a servant to guide everyone downstairs, while he motions for Darrin to reenter his room. Tag says softly, "Come, priest. You and I both would do well to hear this tale. I have waited almost sixteen years to hear it." Unspoken on his lips is Darrin's name, and truly Darrin has not moved to reenter the room. He is as pale as a statue, and almost as stonefaced as the Drow, and seems almost incapable of forcing himself to enter the room. Clavel's features soften and the grim frown disappears. He moves to Darrin's side and ruffles his hair affectionately. "Come, lad. Thy father awaits ye. He wishes for ye to understand all." > >CJ stands confused of the tales he has heard and instantaniously, sheaths his >blade when Zeptha enters and tells him too. As we all leave the room, I >go up to the group and apologize for my actions explaining that all I do is >protect Ross. I look directly at Clavel and say....."Can we talk?" > >Clavel nods in acknowledgement, saying, "Later," and then leads Darrin back into his bedroom. With this....CJ walks out of the room with the others. Thinking of the four words that hit him........"I know the way" What could it mean? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Craelan > Upon the scene resolving Craelan retrieves his shirt and cloak from his > room, and steps back into the hall, seeing Methos " Methos, I am heading > out into the street, perhaps to find some rum, I'd love some company. I > plan on being back in a few hours, perhaps that will give this crew > enough time to sort out there petty differences." Craelan finishes with a > chuckle. Andrew Andrew can't help but listen to Craelan's suggestion. Then he asks: "Do you mind if I go with you Craelan? I've never been here in Waterdeep and I'd love to explore the city. Maybe find a good tavern too, huh?" Craelan " We'll look for shops first, it may be late but perhaps we'll come upon a better shop at this hour for some of your spell components or other mage stuff! Then I want rum, GOOD rum!" and off he goes, a twinkle in his eye and a jingle in his pouch. A young servant nearby suggests The Humming Wench just down the street. " Indeed good mage, let us find a tavern and perhaps visit a shop or >two. Maybe you'll run upon a spell or two in some old shop! Come let us >away." With that Craelan claps Andrew on the shoulder and he heads out >the door for the waiting arms of the city at night. Ignoring any protests >of his companions. > Andrew Andrew watches open-mouthed as Craelan heads towards the door. He turns to Methos and says:"It seems Craelan is very eager to explore Waterdeep. Well let's go Methos. I liked his idea. Maybe I can find some new spells and some decent robes" Andrew follows Craelan. "C'mon Methos" Methos "The Humming Wench, aye, tis a good description of my affairs in Yronry." Methos laughs loudly. "Let us be off. We shall see what this city has in store for us." Sarij "Well I am going down to the university of magic and see if they will let look through thier nature selection in the library. If anyone wants to come I would love company, by the way when should we be back?" Andrew As Andrew, Craelan and Methos head to the door to leave he hears Sarij talking about the university and says: "I think the university is closed for the night, Sarij, we are leaving to explore less educative sites, though" He grins. "Why don't you come along with us??" Sarij To Andrew, "Thanks I would love to come, wow I did not realize how much sleeping I have been doing." You make your way out into the chilly night, and make your way to the front gate to the massive estate. The guards look at you curiously, but are glad to offer Lord Marquet's guests directions. Yes any university's are closed right now... the humming wench... just down the road, they wink at each other. We'll send around the carriage to haul you all home at daylight, they laugh. Shops open right now... well... there's always places to buy from down in Dockward, but you have to be very careful down there. Better to go shopping in a few days anyway. All the competition at the start of the festival really knocks the prices down. But it's up to you. Methos "I vote for Dockward. It seems to be the better place for excitement. >But of course, if we would like to have a taste of this rum Craelan's >been talking about, that's fine with me," Methos says. "I wonder if >there are any wenches as beautiful as Sandy.." Andrew "I think we should go to the docks as well, but we have to be very careful there... Then we could go to the Humming Wench. Why hurry? We have all night. I think we will find some wenches tonight Methos" - Andrew smiles Sarij To Andrew, "Thanks I would love to come, wow I did not realize how much sleeping I have been doing." Craelan Craelan nods in agreement with his companions, an almost eager gleam in his eye. " The docks are a fine idea, I believe ' The Starboard Squall ' had rum even I approved of, and a fine woman or two as well!" Clapping Methos on the back he heads off down the street, the salty air guiding his feet to the sparkling shores of City of Splendors. Methos Methos looks at Andrew with a puckish smile, "It seems we may have our hands full in keeping Craelan from reliving his past." With a shrug of his shoulders, he follows Craelan toward the docks, knowing full well that if and when Craelan gets into trouble, he will be right alongside. The Story of the Starboard Squall > You head to the docks, the smell of the sea stronger with every step. > You pass many an inn and tavern, all with scenes of chaos and > drunkenness, mostly because of the late hour. Andrew Let's go dockward, then. I doubt we will find a decent store there, but it seems the most fun place to go to. Methos Methos looks at Craelan, "Since you are more familiar with the docks, > best ye be speaking to the natives," laughing at his little jest. > "Don't be worrying, though, for ye have friends watching your backs." Craelan Craelan strides up to the bar and takes a spot farthest to the right end. " Barkeep. A bottle of yer finest ", which naturally means rum, here. With that Craelan drops two of his larger coins on the bar, " And whatever my mates'll have " With that he drops another, enough to take care of all the drinks and perhaps a few more. Sarij "Any spirits ya got is fine with me" Methos Methos takes a seat to the left of Craelan, "This rum is bolder than some of the wines I be used to, but it does have its own charms. Thanks, friend." Methos surveys the patrons in the bar, looking for anyone interesting to talk to. Andrew Andrew smiles and orders some rum too. "Thanks Craelan, this rum seems great". He asks Sarij: "So, friend, you wanted to visit the university of magic? Are you skilled in the ways of magic?" Sarij "I not skilled with magic, but I am interrested in it, also I figured that they would have the most diverse collection, and the more I know about people the beter I understand thier actions. Then I can understand thier problems and try to help." Andrew "Even when I was a farm boy, I wanted to be a sorcerer when I grew up. Pity I became one under such unfortunate circustances. But that's another story, and a sad one, not fit for this fun time". He empties his mug of run and asks for another. Then he scans the bar to see if there are pretty girls around. Methos Methos turns his attention back to his rum. "Bartender, know ye the location of the local Guilds?" Methos asks as he places a coin on the table. "My friends and I are looking for some work to supplement our income." Sarij Sarij looks around the bar to see if any worldly people are around, seeing how they are close to the docks and some must be on a shore leave for the night or so. Otherwise he will just stand at the bar drinking his spirits, just observing. The rum is strong and hearty, and as you crowd the bar and begin to glance around, you notice that most of the patrons are of bronzed skin even though winter just ended. Most of the talk that you can overhear is of the impending good weather and many a ship's name is dropped and it's date of departure. Trade is a common topic as well, and this includes some trading going on with a few of the waitresses. The customeres nearest you at the bar are relatively quiet, and eye most of you curiously, all but Craelan it seems. The barkeep, a stout older man, with painted forearms(tattoos), sweeps up any lose coin in front of you and says, "Guilds, ye say. Aye, this city be full of guilds." His voice on the word guilds gets very high pitched and drawn out compared to his regular monotone. "What kind of work do ye look for. The Sailor's Guild is just down the street." He keeps a straight face for all of a second, and then glancing towards Sarij and Andrew, he begins to laugh heartily as do the other patrons within hearing distance. There are plenty of folk, young and old, and several women working the crowd looking for any that catches their eye and calls them over... Sarij > >Wispering to Andrew "Well I have wanted to learn of men of the sea > >but I feel we are dangorously out of place here." > > Andrew > Ah, Sarij, don't worry. These sailors couldn't handle a sea-worm in a fair > fight. Andrew looks to the crowd. He sees a beautiful wench and calls her over. A few men nearby look over at that remark... Craelan Craelan chuckles lightly, " Oh these men are far more dangerous than they let on, but we pose no threat to them, thus we are in no danger. Perhaps we should find a table, that would seem less threatening." Craelan eyes a table and heads over motioning for a serving girl in the process. " What's burning in the kitchen tonite, I haven't eaten in what seems a fortnight!" "That's right, lad. Best ye tell yer fren's what fer," calls out one of the sailors as Craelan leads you to a table. Another one calls out, "Landlubbers, the lot, I'll wager." Methos Methos takes his drink and follows Craelan to the table. He sits down in a chair facing entrance door. He waits expectantly for the serving girl to give a list of the food available before ordering. "Not much excitement here, Craelan, for the rowdiest place in the city." A pretty maiden of fiery hair and eyes of bright green, hustles over. When asked of tonight's fare, she reads off the menu by heart, " There's still some baitfish stew in the kettle, and plenty of cheese wheels and bread. There's one or two hens still on the spit as well. And there is always fliunder on the grill, spiced lightly with lemon and herbs." She says to Methos and Sarij, "And no. We don't have nothing like that Elverquisst, that your lot likes so much. No, we have sherry, whiskey, what's strong enough to strip the tar from between your planks, and Tashlutan RollRum, what you are drinking already. And if you want company, it'll cost you. It's been a long winter, and the girls are done tired of being pawed until this motley crew can set sail again. They been here all winter and ran out of good coin soon after they got in. So what'll it be?" Sarij > "Any meat ya got , and spirits for us all", as Sarij leans back in > his cair to relax and enjoy hte attmosphare." > > Methos Warchild > "Some hens and flounder for us, milady. My friends and I seek only > good food and drink for tonight, and perhaps a tall tale or two to > entertain us by the fire." Methos replies with his warmest smile. > He then reaches into his pouch and spins a coin on the table. "Here's > something extra for your troubles." > > Craelan > Once food is eaten and sufficient rum drank, Craelan speaks up once > >again " I've had my rum, this may not be the liveliest of dockside bars, > >but we haven't been killed yet, so that is a great sign. Do any of you > >have any places you'd like to see? I'm happy now and will follow across > >the realms if you'd like!!" > > Andrew > "This bar is pretty boring as it is. Well, Waterdeep is famous for it's > brothels, maybe we should pay one a visit. Drink some more too... hic" > > The waitress is just coming up to clear your dishes, when she hears Andrew's > comment. She says loudly for all too hear in the Squall, "Lad, thinks we're > a bit on the boring side." Many sailors look over, and after a second to > stare at your group, many begin to guffaw and slap their thighs or their > comrades backs. > > The Bartender says loudly, "Excitement you want. There's plenty in this town. > But you got to have nerves of steel." > > One sailor calls out, "The Yawning Portal... send 'em there." > > The waitress says, "And if you really want trouble, you should have gone > to Skullport." > > "Why didn't you just go to Adventurer's Quarter, ye be such fine adventurous > type lads?" cries out another. > > None seem very threatining in their comments as they all where big grins. > > The waitress says, "And if you want one of them house of pleasures, right up in > Castle Ward...'Mother Tathlorn's House of Pleasure'. It's right on Gem Street, > big place, across from Waterdeep Castle on it's North side." Sarij "That sounds like a fine place, the adventurer quarters." The waitress says, "There's many good places in that area of town. Especially if you're looking for merc work. But it's too early in the morning for that. Rightly, I think if you look outside, you might see the sunrise," she chuckles. Methos > "Well, seems we've wasted one night. Let us go back to the house, > and we'll explore the town tomorrow after we've had a catnap. I > could use some rest." Methos remarks to the rest of the group, > as he stifles a yawn. Sarij "yes now that it is dawn it is a good idea to return and get a nap." Craelan has no problem leading you back to the mansion, of course it helps that Mount Waterdeep is a good-sized landmark. The guards greet you and allow you entry with no problem, and heading up to the house, you are surprised to see Tag lounging quite casually on the porch, though well back under the overhang, to keep out of the newly risen sun as much as possible. He stands as you approach, and though you are sure his expression is normally quite stoic, you seem to get the feeling that he is more agitated than he wishes to let on. As you come up the stairs, he says softly, "Things did not go well here last night. Your friend, the priest of Tempus, and Ross did not see quite eye-to-eye, I believe you call it. He was asked to depart, and though he did so willingly, Darrin and the other young man, Christian went with him. They have gone to Tempus's House of Heroes to seek their shelter." "The Priest asked that I inform you of this, and say that should you need to find him, that is where he is. I can only say, that much was found out last night, including what I had long suspected. Darrin is Ross's only child, and yet Darrin desires to join the church of Tempus, which Ross has had great disagreement with in the past." "But your friend awaits you there, should you desire to meet with him. The other warrior, Calador, is still sleeping I believe, but when he rises, he is seeing to some dent's in his armor."
