The Isle of Stone
The stony island of Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran Isles, lies accross the mouth Galway Bay, defending it from the fury of the Atlantic. This is an "auto-everything" slide, and apart from the addition of a picture frame and a slight size adjustment, it has not been altered. The lucky aspect of this picture is that the sea cooperated and provided the dramatic spray visible in the distance. What is not evident from this slide is that the cliff over which the spray is rising is itself about 80-100 feet high. The dry-stone fortress in the extreme distance is Dun Aengus, and it is the largest of its kind in Western Europe. I was standing about three miles from the fort when I took the shot.
