Ever wonder how to become a mountaineer without leaving your seat (initially that is- you need to actually climb to become one you know..) ? Follow these easy steps :

Caution : Hiking in the Philippines is not that difficult but there are lots of variables that can make it one hell of a climb. Nothing will ever replace actual learning experience so if you have time try to join an organization that offers a Basic Mountaineering Course.

STEP 1 : Read the Basic Mountaineering Course section of this website. You do not need to finish it. Just read sections as necessary. Focus on the equipment and trail techniques initially. But if you have a week before the climb, you do not have an excuse of not finishing reading the book.

STEP 2 : Plan the venue and dates of your climb. As much as possible, go for an easy hike first before making the big ones. Print the itinerary of the place you will be visiting.

STEP 3 : Don't buy gears immediately. An equipment list will be very useful. You can also refer to our sites review guide to help you decide what to buy. You can also refer to our directory for other information you may need. General information can be obtained at our Info Philippines Section and Links Sections. If you want some suggestions on what to eat, visit our cooking site.

STEP 5: And if you think you are now ready then what are you waiting for ? climb climb climb climb !!!

STEP 6 : And after the climb, you may want tyo visit this site....you can look for both the orthophedic or mental health institutions.

BUT WAIT ! : YOU ARE NOT A MOUNTAINEER IF YOU DO NOT RESPECT NATURE !

And if you think you are now being addicted to the sports, you may want to advance your career and join a club. Or get into the groove and learn what kind of animals are we. Better yet, join our egroup or even MFPIs e-group to become updated. WELCOME TO THE GROUP !

Why does most mountaineer we met are either from an IT related field or has one way or another used a PC ? Maybe most techies needs a break. Maybe they are totally consumed with technicalities that they want to do something very different say...nature, like back to basics, back to reality, getting feet on the ground ? ...well if you are reading this now (youre using a PC of course), and are interested to hike then you are one of them. wpe3.jpg (5308 bytes)
