EPILOGUE

The Metropolitan Mountaineering Society believes that to be a true mountaineer does not only entail a rigorous training in outdoor survival. It is getting fit for a climb and being fit for the mountains. Meaning, a climber must acquire all the skills every published book and training program can offer in order for him to be adequate and useful in the mountains. But without any heart-felt concern for the people, flora and fauna, and yes, the unseen creatures of the mountains, his training and BMC is of no essence; he is no better than a boy scout in his first jamboree.

This is what the book had re-iterated within its pages. Skills and environmental concern must go hand in hand, like key and lock. The society deemed it highly necessary to impart this culture, and had exploited this book in order that many would come to know the real peak of being a mountaineer.

In the process of creating this book, many other book projects evolved. And a whole new cycle of exhilaration, exhaustion and excitement is well underway.

As much as we experience different "highs" in our various expeditions, there are numerous subjects that can be expounded, varied anecdotes to tell and many other legends to discover.

We would like to enjoin other groups and individuals, who share this common love for the mountains and mountaineering, to take part in this new adventure. Nothing can replace a legacy of education and a collection of real convictions because even generations hence, will benefit to a great extent.
