When The End Comes

Disclaimer- I do not own the characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They belong
to 20th Century Fox, Joss Whedon, and Mutant Enemy. I am using them without permission,
however I am not making any money off them so please do not sue me.
Author's Notes- This story deals with the what happens when there comes a battle
they can’t stop? Someday it will happen. This is set at the end of the fifth season,
and it’s how they spend their last moments on earth. I have a lot of couples in this
story. Buffy/Angel, Willow/Oz, Xander/Anya, Cordelia/Doyle, Spike/Drusilla, and Giles/Joyce.
The couples spend their last moments with the people they love. It’s kind of sad
and there is angst because the world is ending. I couldn’t do it without angst. Sorry.
Anyway enjoy.
Feedback- Please! Send feedback but no flames.
Distribution- Buffy's Passion, Daydreams of BtVS, and Slay This! have permission,
everyone else just ask me first. I'll almost always say yes.
Rating- TV-14
Classification: Group, Buffy/Angel, Cordelia/Doyle, Xander/Anya, Willow/Oz, Spike/Drusilla,
Joyce/Giles, angst, romance, end of the world.
Spoilers- The Harsh Light of Day and back.
Part One
Giles read the prophecy once more.
It was clear, and unstoppable. Tomorrow the world ended and there was nothing they
could do to stop it. They had lost their battle, it was over. After five years of
fighting they had lost.
It seemed as if all they had been through was for nothing, because in the end all
they had done was delayed the end.

“So there’s nothing we can do?” Xander asked as he paced around Giles apartment.
“I’m sorry.” Giles said and then shook his head. “There is no way to stop it.” He
looked at them seriously. “Don’t you understand, it was inevitable. Eventually we
had to come up against something we couldn’t fight, this is it.”
Buffy looked at Giles carefully. “So this is our last night on earth?” She asked
softly.
Giles nodded. “I’m afraid so.”
Buffy stood up and prepared to leave.
“Where are you going?” Willow asked softly.
“If I only have one last night on earth I’m spending it with Angel.” With that she
left.
They all watched her go with understanding. They realised that Buffy needed to spend
her last night with Angel, there were no consequences now.
“Buffy has the right idea, go spend your last night with someone you love because
when the sun sets tonight it’s never going to rise again.”
They all realised what he was saying and left.

“Xander?” Anya asked, opening the door to his apartment. He had moved out of his
parents basement a couple months before.
“Yeah?”
She looked up at him, something new in her eyes. “I love you.” She said softly.
“What?” He asked in complete shock.
“You heard me. I’ve loved you for a long time, but I’ve never been able to admit
it.” She stepped towards him, and started to undo her blouse. “Xander make love to
me. We had sex once before, but before I die I want to be made love to by the man
I love.”
Xander nodded, and kissed her softly. “I love you.” He said, before kissing her again.
After a few minutes he picked her up and carried her to his bedroom. She watched
him with love, as he helped her take the rest of her clothes off.
With hesitant fingers she removed his shirt. A minute later all their clothes were
shed, and they lay down on the bed together.

Spike threw a vase at the wall. It had been an hour since Giles had called to tell
him that the world was going to end. He was an ally of the slayer’s now and maybe
even a friend.
He heard someone come in and looked up to see Drusilla. “Dru.” He whispered, this
was first time he’d seen her in two years.
“It’s over, isn’t it?” She asked him.
“Yes.”
She didn’t react, and then slowly she walked towards him. “Spike, I’m sorry.” She
whispered, he just took her in his arms.
“It’s okay pet.” He said as he kissed her.
It cheered him to know that she would be with him in the final moments before their
deaths. For not even demons would survive, the world would be destroyed.

“I love you Oz.” Willow told her boyfriend as she lay in his arms.
This was their last night together ever. Soon it would all be over. A couple hours
at the most Giles had said.
“I love you too.” He told her, kissing her hair.
Willow rolled over, so that she was laying half on his chest and facing him. “Oz,
I’m pregnant.” She told him, knowing he had to know. She would never have the baby
she carried inside, but boy did she want it.
Oz’s hand trailed down to her stomach. “Really?” He asked her, she nodded.
He pulled her closer. “I wish this wasn’t going to happen. Then you and I could raise
our child together."
Willow nodded. “So do I.” She told him, tears running freely down her face.

Doyle knelt before Cordelia. “Marry me.” He urged.
“What?!” His girlfriend looked at him in shock.
“Delia, the world is going to end in a few hours. I know their isn’t time for a real
marriage, but even just a symbolic one is enough. I want to die knowing you’re my
wife.”
Cordelia nodded tearfully. “Okay.”
Doyle took two claudagh rings from his pocket. “Do you know what the claudagh is?”
He asked her gently.
Cordelia nodded. “Yeah. Buffy has one. The heart is for love, the hands friendship,
and the crown is for loyalty. If you wear it with the heart pointing towards you,
you belong to somebody. Isn’t it like an Irish wedding band?”
Doyle nodded and carefully slipped one on her ring finger. “I love you Cordelia Chase,
with every breath in my body.”
Cordelia took the other ring from him and slipped it on to his finger. “I love you
Doyle, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
She started to cry and Doyle’s arms went around her. “There, there. It’s okay.” He
consoled, kissing her tears away. She grabbed his shirt and pulled him on top of
her.
“Here, on the floor?” He asked in disbelief.
“Why not?” Cordelia asked as she kissed him with all her passion.
He kissed her back with just as much passion. This would be their last time and they
both knew it.

Angel looked at Buffy in surprise.
“You came.”
“Who else would I spend my last night ever with?” She asked with a grin.
He kissed her tenderly. “I love you.” He whispered when they finally parted.
“I love you.” Buffy said, looking up at him with total love and devotion.
With an unspoken understanding Angel picked her up and carried her to his bedroom.
When they were there he gently laid her on the bed and began to tenderly kiss her.
She kissed him back with three years worth of love and longing. Tonight they would
finally be one again, but never again. This was the only time they would ever get
to be together.

Joyce smiled up at Giles and wound her arms around his neck.
“I love you.” She told him with a grin. “I really do.”
“I love you too.” He told her, and then he kissed her.
“Let’s go upstairs.” She said removing her arms from his neck.
He nodded and took her hand. Together they went into his bedroom.
It had been almost three years since the last time they had been together, and tonight
would be different. It was the last time ever, but it was also the first. Because
this time they truly loved each other.
This was special, and neither one of them could think of anywhere else they'd rather
spend their last moments on earth.

Part Two
Anya heard a low rumble.
“This is it.” She whispered to the man beside her.
He held her close to him. “It’s alright Anya.”
Anya turned to him, her eyes shining with love. “If I have to die I’m glad I got
to spend my last moments with you.” She told him softly.
He kissed her, a final kiss.
Then the low rumble became defining and they both knew it was over. This was it.
The end.

Drusilla clung to Spike. “This is it.” She said softly, wondering what would happen
next.
Spike kissed his beloved Drusilla. “I know Ducks, but at least we're together.”
She nodded and kissed him.
A deafening noise filled the room and they knew it was over.

Oz put his hand on Willow’s stomach, marvelling in the fact that his child was in
there. But filled with sadness at the fact that he would never see it, it would never
be born.
“I love you.” He told her. “And even though it hasn’t been born, I love our baby.”
“So do I.” Willow whispered, her eyes full of tears.
At that moment they heard a deafening noise and clasped hands at what they knew to
be the very end.
It was over.
* * * * *
Cordelia lay in Doyle’s arms as she heard the low rumblings get louder.
“Goodbye.” She whispered to the man who she loved with all her heart, and who by
his customs was her husband.
“Goodbye.” he whispered back as the noise became deafening.
They both knew at that moment that it was over.

“I love you, you were perfect.” Angel told Buffy, as he gently played with a piece
of her hair. “
"I love you too.” She told him, kissing him softly.
She knew he had reassured her because she had some doubts. Her two experiences with
sex hadn’t turned out well, but this had been truly amazing. Being with Angel, letting
herself go. Knowing only what it was to be in his arms.
As the deafening noise filled every corner of the room. They gazed at each other
and knew that this was the end.

Joyce closed her eyes as the end came.
She was with Giles and that was all that mattered. She loved him so much and was
glad that her last moments were with him.
"I love you.” He whispered.
She never got to reply because at that moment there was a deafening rumble. It was
over.
They had lost. They had all lost. After all their fighting there was nothing the
could do.
