Forever In My Heart

Daniel paused on her porch for a moment after he dropped her off, and Buffy sensed something big was about to happen. She was right. “Buffy, I know that you’ll never feel the same way I do, but I love you. Will you marry me?” Buffy was stunned, she knew it had been coming for a while, but she wasn’t sure she was ready. She looked up at Daniel. “Give me some time.” Daniel smiled, he knew she had a lot to deal with it. He nodded and kissed her cheek before leaving.

She watched him go still wondering what to do, she looked out the window at the sky. “Oh, Angel why did you leave me?” She asked out loud her eyes filling with tears. She had loved him so much, for twelve years he had been her world, but he was gone now. Had been for four whole years, maybe it was time to move on. She wasn’t sure she could, so much if had died with Angel.

She closed her eyes and remembered all the times they shared. He had been the light of her life, her guardian Angel, but he was gone. She just wish she could say goodbye, she touched the ring on her hand, His ring, she wore it as a sign of her devotion to him. She touched it gently about to take it off when she felt chills down her back.

She turned around and there was Angel. “Angel!” She cried running into his arms, he kissed her head. “I’m here to say goodbye, you need it.” She nodded she knew it was true. “How long do you have?” She asked, tears in her eyes, Angel smiled sadly.

“Not long. Buffy, I once told you not even death will change our love. I was right. But Buffy I’m gone you can’t hang onto the past forever. I want you to move on, Buffy I love you enough to let you go. So please, for me, try to move on.” Buffy nodded, her eyes full of tears. “I’ll try, but I’ll never forget you. Or stop loving you.” “Buffy, I don’t expect you to, but I just want you to be happy. You’re young, you can’t spend your entire life moping for me. I don’t want that.” Buffy nodded. “You’re right.”

Angel gathered her in his arms and kissed her gently. She kissed him back with all the longing she had in her, knowing this would be their last kiss ever. He was truly gone. The kiss lasted a few minutes before Angel finally broke it and began to fade away. “I love you.” He said before disappearing, she nodded knowing it was true.

She looked down at her hand again, and removed the ring. She put it in her pocket, she would always keep it but for Angel she would move on. She thought about Daniel, she really liked him. Maybe she would consider his proposal, just maybe.

She glanced up at the sky. “Goodbye Angel.” She whispered, it was finally over. But she would never forget him, and a big piece of her would always belong to him. Her youth. She smiled sadly, a chapter of life was forever closed.

It had been fun, she would remember it forever, because real love never went away. It lasted forever, and what she and Angel had shared was definitely real. So it would last forever, just in her heart.
