The boys managed to keep Arnold and Sugar Ray at bay, but failed to notice that Lawhiney had reache the control panel. She pulled the lever and the hook ascended toward the vat of molten gold. Rat Capone scrambled for a better hold, in an attempt to climb up the hook. As Lawhiney watched the hook, Gadget lept to the control panel and jerked the lever the other way. The hook’s abrupt change alarmed Lawhiney, who jerked on the lever and looked toward the cause of the delay.

"Let go!" snarled Lawhiney.

"I can’t let you do this!" declared Gadget.

"Why not? He deserves it." retorted the islander.

"Murder was a crime last time I checked."

"And your point is...?"

"That’s why I can’t let you do this."

"But if there’s no Capone, there’s no Rat Capone crime empire, right? His ‘organization’ will be nothing without him."

"Hmm. True." conceded the mouse/inventor.

"And the old sleeze can’t hit on us if he’s dead, right?"

"I don’t like where your argument is heading. Besides, Rat Capone should PAY for his crimes. He can’t do that if he’s dead."

"Wouldn’t dying in molten gold qualify as ‘paying’ ?"

Zipper flew behind Lawhiney during that discussion. He grabbed her tail and bit down on it--hard!

"Aieeeow!" screamed Lawhiney as she released the lever in order to craddle her injured tail. Gadget pulled the lever all the way, thus keeping the hook out of the molten gold. Then Gadget grabbed another lever with her tail and pulled. This caused the crane to swing away from the vat.

"Why’d ya do THAT for?!" Lawhiney snarled at Zipper before she tried to swat him. Zipper nimbly dodged her swing and gave the mouse a ‘Bronx cheer’.

"I -told- you why..." began Gadget, before she realized that she wasn’t the one who was being addressed.

By this time, Arnold was out cold and Sugar Ray had grabbed Chip. Dale grabbed Sugar Ray’s tail and chopped away. The lizard yelped and dropped Chip.
