Living Together
Thoughts & Comments from the Viewers & Actors
"I was not suprised to find myself reading a script which booted me off of the show. Just because I had few ideas of my own, and also I did realise that it was taking about 4 hours to do one scene.... But I am not bitter or twisted you b*****ds.
Suprisingly enough this gave me the opportunity to um work um on another show - Mr Rusty. At least my acting talents were appreciated there you B*****DS. That is all I have to say on the matter." Martin Rust (Actor - Joe Newnham)
Richard Writes: There is no need to use that language. It was perfectly justified to sack you. Sylvia wanted to watch telly and not spend all night watching you give the camera V signs for hours!

"I very much enjoyed 'Living Together'. If I am allowed to criticize (just a little), I found some of the scenes rather short and that gave the overall series a rather 'bitty' feel.
I thought you handled the car crash very well, but what was the 'demanding money' all about? I kept waiting for developments but they didn't come.
Anyway, congratulations to everyone on an excellant effort. Keep up the good work!" Dorothy (Viewer)
Richard Writes: I agree, some of the scenes were very short and didn't flow that well. There were very few scenes that really followed on from each other. Only the last two episodes had some continuity with the party and Wendy's attack at the end of the series.
I must admit too with the 'demanding money' story. This was more for a drama eliment and really didn't have anywhere to go (very poor scripting on my account).

"I have to start by saying that I thought, in my humble and uneducated opinion, that the presentation had greatly improved from your first faltering steps - pre Channel 4 programme.
Although I suspect that your job has greatly improved your video techniques as well, and it shows.
I have to say that I do not follow any soaps so am not able to draw on my vast experience or knowledge on the subject.
I very much admire all those prepared to be videoed and act - something I'm sure I couldn't do. It's also good and positive to see young people with a common interset, enjoying themselves.
I have to say for a programme called 'Living Together' and where the opening titles portray a village community, I for one would not like to live there, why? Well, I watched the four episodes as requested and try as I might, I can't think of any one positive thing that is happening in anyones life. I did find the storyline rather depressing and gloomy. I know you are covering modern issues and very commendable, but someone must win £10 on the lottery or buy a bargin at Tesco, or hear the birth of a legitamute grandchild? The little incidents that litter peoples lives, small in themselves, but bring a little smile. They don't have to be part of the main story, just be incidents. It must be difficult to write a script, so please don't take this as a criticism. This is just one persons viewpoint.
The acting, especially by male actors, was good. I found some of the female acters weren't as relaxed and felt more self conscious. There were, of course, a couple of exceptions, the lady who played Sandy (Pauline McCann) for example. Wendy was a charcter I grew to like and enjoyed in the end.
As for male actors it was cloose but my vote must goto Steve, he was just a natural." Jenny (Viewer)
Richard Writes: Once again, admittedly the whole of the second series was a little gloomy for every one except Wendy who managed to get her book published. This is maybe why I have set the next special around a party (although, there are a few unhappy people there as well).
